Two women , Riskat Kabiru and Ajoke Kayode, are to spend two months in prison, following their sentence by an Abuja Area Court in Karu, for causing public disturbance.
The women are both residents of Orozo, Abuja.

The Prosecutor, Mr. Pascal Njoku, had told the court that Kabiru came to the Karshi police station to report Kayode on February 27.
According to him, Kabiru said that she was accused of gossiping and stealing Kayode’s child and the latter had engaged her in a fight after the accusation.

Njoku said that on police investigations, it was discovered that both women were engaged in a street fight thereby constituting public nuisance.

He also added that both of them were arraigned before the court as accused persons.
The women pleaded guilty to the charge which contravened Section 113 of the Penal code.
They also pleaded with the court for fairness in its judgement.

Justice Hassan Ishaq, however, gave them an option of N 5, 000 fine.

Ishaq warned the women to live in peace with one another and should not fight with anyone or they would be charged for contempt. (NAN)
