Deletei need someone to explain to me producer and acting ,must you play a role in a every movie you produce ,abeg i just need to be cleared on this.
ReplyDeleteDo you know the work of a producer?
DeleteAnonymous 11-43,i don't know ,so i asked ,,was waiting for you to give me an answer ,you paused and left with this ? are you asking me a question that i clearly stated i don't know ,abi for your class na everybody know book,me free i no no book
Delete@booty. U made a pertinent observation. But sadly, in the nigerian context of film making or producing, 2minutes into the movie you can almost tell whose it is, because the producer is likely to be the star actor/actress. But I must say that this is common with our yoruba section of nollywood. I dont know whether to attribute this to the fact that they assume that playing the lead role or participating at all, validates the movie. Or whether it makes them feel more in control or it gives them more publicity.
DeleteMany atimes some producers are too monopolistic to invest in core prolific actors that'll fit the major roles. Most of them would rather do it themselves than to put another person in the lime light for fear of 'stealing' their show or something...or simply because they don't want to pay their colleagues for it.
I should also add that only a few very good producers stay behind camera..example is Tunde kilani, Tade Ogidan..etc.
Other producers/actors like Saheed Balogun, iyabo ojo..tbe Ray family, Femi Adebayo and co...are often in the forefront of their movies.
What they should do is discover new talents and invest in them. But when all the known faces want to do the acting and producing themselves, it leaves no climbing up the ladder opportunities for the amateurs. That's the major reason that the industry is stagnant. If the veterans before them did the same, they wouldn't be known either.
The recycling of the same faces is the reason I sometimes feel that I have seen a particular movie, when the fact is I haven't seen it. More annoying istheir movie soundtracks repertoire. My God, they all use the same theme songs and it can be so monotonous. Top of the list is Tope Alabi's songs. They have abused that woman's songs like crazy. Wonder why they cannot be creative. But in all sha, the industry is better than what it used to be. Let's give it to them.
Nice
