Pastor Bakare Attacks Nigerian Government Over Sanusi

The Convener of the Save Nigeria Group, Tunde Bakare, has accused the President Goodluck Jonathan-led federal government of selective justice in the suspension of Lamido Sanusi, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

In his sermon on Sunday in Lagos, Mr. Bakare said the suspended CBN governor was a victim of delayed whistle blowing, adding that he ought to have spoken out during the 2012 fuel subsidy fraud crisis.

“Make no mistake about it, few men have the courage of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi,” said Mr. Bakare, the head pastor of The Latter Rain Assembly.

Few men have the aristocratic dignity of a man who time and again, while in public office, raised his voice against profligacy and monetary imprudence especially among the legislators and sometimes among the executive; perhaps, no serving government official has been as outspoken against misgovernance as the suspended CBN Governor,”

“However, when the CBN, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the PPPRA, the NNPC and other agencies provided conflicting figures as to actual subsidy payments to the Ad-hoc Committee on the management of fuel subsidy, that may have been the opportune time to blow the whistle.
Perhaps Sanusi Lamido Sanusi at the time did not have the facts he now has; perhaps, cautious and tactical in his fight against the corrupt system, he was conscious of the sensitivity of his office especially as regards the need to preserve the stability of the economy; perhaps, he had waited for a more appropriate time,”

Bakare accused the federal government of shielding the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, an agency he described as “the mountain of public corruption in Nigeria.”

The federal governor suspended Mr. Sanusi from his post as CBN Governor over allegations of “financial recklessness and misconduct” against his bank.culled

*I dont have a problem with what he has said but why is he preaching politics in church?people go to church to seek the face of God and not listen to political talk!.

    1. Its unfortunate that pple like bakare are now the ones making excuses for sanusi who is an establish criminal and a thief. Sanusi has been indicted for dupping Nigeria, inflation of contracts, awarding contracts without due process, running secret accts in cbn, using nigeria's money for investment in islamic bank in malaysia without approval by the govt.,feeding his private police and guards with 1.2 billion, etc. I am surprised that pple like bakare haven't come out to condemn sanusi yet they are always quick to condemn others. Sanusi indicted mrs stella ibru, akimgbola and atuche, yet he never gave them chance to express themselves before he sent efcc after them, now he is indicted, he is using court to stop his arrest and apc criminals are supporting him. Its just unbelievable.

    2. If I talk now, some people will say I have come again. Come, every week in and out this man keeps analysing politics on the altar cum political podium. Is he not confused? He should call a press conference if he is so opinionated about any development in politics, rather than to bore stuff his congregation with this repertoire every Sunday. Haba. Mshew

  8. Madam Stella, on this issue u dead wrong, Gods alter is a place to discuss injustice and actions that violect our core value as humans. So Jonathan can attend redeem to seek for the face of God in disguise sorting out votes, and Bakare cannot talk about political issues that affect both you and i .
One of our fundamental problem in this country is our religious leaders have refused to speak against corruption and injustice rotting our nation, Martin Luther king did, Rev Jackson is still doing it.

wisely. We will soon start cursing in church. No good road, no electricity, no jobs, no access to solid heathcare, the list is endless, they now come to ask for votes in churches. God go purnish all of una. I dey vex.

  13. Genny baby, Please learn not to generalize when you talk.. One man Church? May I know the church you attend before I can give you a dignified response!
Remember, Jesus was a 1-man army who the Pharisees and Sadducee attacked because He wouldn't conform to their practices!
May I also ask does that Is inviting "Pastor" Pat Utomi" to refresh your mind this Sunday doesn't fall into that category of bull crap? Abi na him they pastor your Church?

    Please criticize subjectively!!

  14. @ lafaze.blogspot.com Thanks for your comment, you just said it all. If we need changes in our country it has to start from churches and mosques before our leaders will seat up properly. Why do we hate hearing the truth about our country and we are still faced with sufferings? we only castigate people base on tribe and religion take the message and don't kill the messenger. How do we change situations when people curse out the few that speaks out? There is notting wrong preaching in churches and mosques about evil that face every one of us in Nigeria. I think we need more of him as pastors not all this money bag businessmen church leaders. If you need change speak out,if you say you don't care you will continue to suffer same misrule by our leaders through your none caring attitude. Nigeria problem affects everyone individually even if you are a billionaire. {Myopinion}

  19. Dear Stella,

You are extremely talented when it comes to "ofofo", and to an extent getting to the bottom of it. However, you really suck when it comes to political commentary. Why not just stick to what has created a name for you.
