Burning Sensation After Pee-ing? Here Is What You Might Have!

BLOG VISITOR HAS BURNING SENSATION AFTER PEE-ING

''Like 3 weeks ago, i woke in the morning and started feeling a burning sensation at the end of my urination.
It continued like that the whole day, no pain in the beginning but towards the end of the urine i feel very sharp burning sensation in my vagina.
that same day i started with beecham ampiclox for 5days, during the period the pain reduced and became occasional. After i completed the ampiclox, the burning sensation stooped but i started feeling sharp pain in my lower stomach (below the abdomen)  towards the end of urination. It also stooped few days back.
please is there any advise you can give as to what happened?
please note that there was no abnormal discharge (i mean all i had were my normal discharges)  during the period.
Also the pain stopped immediately after my menses''

DR NNENNA REPLIES

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that you can get from having sex with someone who has the infection. It can be through oral sex, anal sex or vaginal sex.The causes of STDs are bacteria, parasites and viruses. There are more than 20 types of STDs, but I will talk to you about Chlamydia.
Let us roll......
CHLAMYDIA is caused by a bacterium and it infects the mucous membranes in the anus, mouth, and genital areas. It is classified as the commonest STD and occurs more in women between teens and young adults(the most sexual age group) .It is the leading cause of preventable infertility and ectopic pregnancy. However, half of infected women and 25 percent of infected men may have no symptoms whatsoever.

    Symptoms:
Women may have no symptoms, that is why its a "silent" epidemic.Possible symptoms for women are pain when urinating, itching around the vagina, discharge from the vagina, bleeding between periods ,pain in the lower abdomen, pain during sexual intercourse and painful periods.Men may have a burning sensation when urinating and a milky colored discharge from the penis. If not treated, chlamydia can cause infertility and other problems in women and painful swelling of the scrotum in men.

    How Is Chlamydia Treated?

If you have chlamydia, your doctor will prescribe oral antibiotics, usually azithromycin or doxycycline. Usually,Your doctor will recommend your partner to be treated as well to prevent reinfection.

How Can You Prevent a Chlamydia infection?

Use condoms during sexual intercourse, Do not have multiple sex partners, and do not go back and forth between partners.Practice sexual abstinence, or limit sexual contact to one uninfected partner. If you think you are infected, avoid sexual contact and see a doctor.

Note:For this particular blog visitor,I will recommend you see a doctor. But why?Because, you need to be tested to rule out Urinary Tract Infection(UTI).I don't know how your urine appeared at that time. Was it cloudy? Was it blood stained?Did it have odor?
You need some simple lab tests done for proper diagnosis and treatment. Also,do not self medicate prior to visiting your physician because the medications can mask the symptoms and affect lab results.

    Thank you.

    12. You have UTI and I bet there's some chlamydia present. Fear not. Go get tested, get treated and change your sexual partner immediately. Tell him to go get treated sha because if he didn't infect you, you must have infected him. And strap up next time. Infertility is a bitch o. Don't use your hands or in this case, your vagina to bring problems upon yourself.

    14. I noticed dis same symptoms a month after I put to bed, before I put to bed during my ante natal classes I do urine tests every week so there was no infection in my body, and after I put to bed I have not had sex with hubby, so when I noticed dis same symptoms dat dis poster has I ruled out std, but hubby insisted I should see a doctor to be sure, so I got to d hospital did urine test, blood test and scan, it happened dat I have toilet infection, which I got after I put to bed, may be from using d visitors toilet or something, so I got treated and d symptoms have disappeared. So poster go to d hospital.
