The remains of late John Ndubuka, a close relative of the governor of Abia state who was accidentally hit by a bullet during a reception organized for the governor in Umuahia recently has been laid to rest.
Speaking at a funeral service for him at St. Finbarr’s catholic parish, Umuahia, the governor, chief Theodore Orji condoled the bereaved family over their loss and disclosed that since the death of John his own family has been traumatized.
According to him, the death of Mr. John Ndubuka is one of the most painful he has experienced and emphasized on the shortness of life.
Chief Orji who said that his family made John a hero in life and even in death said the deceased achievements in life are traceable to his family and regretted that some people are trivializing and politicizing the death.
The governor advised the bereaved family to block their ears and shut their mouth over what people will say describing their sons death as it is accidental.
Earlier in a sermon, the catholic bishop of Umuahia, Rt Rev Lucius Ugorji said that death is a mystery and a personal thing which cannot be delegated and thanked God for the life of John even though he died at his prime.
Advising the family of the deceased not to mourn like those without hope, the bishop stressed the need for all to prepare always for death, reminding them that life can come to an end in a twinkle of an eye.
He however called on the security personnel in the state to try to unravel the cause and source of the death of John since his death has caused tension and fear among the people, adding that it will help calm frayed nerves.
In a tribute read on behalf of the Elder brother of the deceased, Henry Ndubuka by an in-law to the family, Dr. Mark Abani he stated that late John Ndubuka was a graduate of Economics of the Abia state University and a hardworking young man.
Aged 36, late John Ndubuka is survived by his wife,a son, aged mother and many relations.
