During the dark ages the BIBLE was called "THE FORBIDDEN BOOK" which means ordinary people like me and you were forbidden to read or own a Bible and if you were caught with one you would be put to death. But today each of us can own the holy Bible and read it as much as we want. In that Bible, JESUS CHRIST said
"For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"
This very verse is filled with a Hard Punch that nobody can ever break or change
Throughout his ministry JESUS CHRIST tried to shield the people from RELIGIOUS laws, Jesus actually broke a lot of the religious laws. He did all these to show that the welfare of humans is far more important than any law. Jesus does not want us to be weighed down by Religious laws, rather he wanted us to have a RELATIONSHIP with God. A father son/daughter relationship! At the end Jesus was killed by the same Religious people! Today we have some people that says Celebrating Christmas is wrong, and once again people are thrown into confusion not knowing what to believe especially if this message is coming from very respectable and knowledgeable people!
There are so many reasons given why Christmas should not be celebrated, some of them are 1. Jesus did not ask anybody to celebrate his birth 2. Jesus was not born in December 3.December used to be a date to celebrate pagan gods...etc and the list goes on... While I can’t argue with respectable people, I can definitely speak for myself. What I see is RELIGION creeping up here again and as a believer in JESUS CHRIST, Christians are not supposed to adhere to religious stuff. Does it really matter which day Jesus Christ was actually born? Yes he was not born in December, so many people already know that but if Christians choose December, January or July to celebrate his birth, what is wrong with that? Even if the day chosen to celebrate it was formally used to celebrate pagan gods..etc once again what is wrong with that? Are Christians celebrating any pagan god? The argument that Jesus did not ask us to celebrate his birth does not make any sense at all. What about the wise Men that traveled for months through rugged terrains to honor and celebrate him?
Finally to answer the Question "Should Christians Celebrate Christmas?" for anybody struggling with that question here is the answer from the BIBLE
Luke 2:13-14"
13"Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
So people should not twist scriptures to reach their own Religious opinions because they are much learned! Right here we see that the Angels of God celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ! They praised God for this great event and that is what we followers of Christ are still doing today....we are happy so we eat, dance, celebrate and praise God for this great event. Still one curious thing that pricks the mind is, people have no problems with Lies, Greed, Sexual Orgies, Hate, Stealing, Cheating, Sex outside marriage and Un-forgiveness but when it comes to things like Tithe and Celebrating Christmas, all of a sudden people want to be Holy. These are nothing but religious stuff that has nothing to do with salvation so why are people making a big deal out of these? The last time I checked being a Christian has absolutely nothing to do with Religion but everything to do with Relationship with God. Compliments of the season and may the peace of God remain with you all forever Amen!

I have a strong feeling Christmas is a pagan holiday. No records found in the Bilble.
ReplyDeleteObviously, the main intent was to convert the pagans to Christianity, but anyways its not forced if you like don't celebrate

ReplyDeleteIsokay...so do u know how the fix easter each year? Have u ever wondered y the dates are not always thesame every year? Weda jesus was born in dec or not I will still celebrate his birth.. To hell with pagan theories...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful writeup. My Birthday's 8th of May, and maybe someone tells me "that was the day Amadioha married 15 wives from my village, hence I shouldn't celebrate". So? I should wear sack cloth?
ReplyDeleteThe earth is the Lord's and the splendour within. HE made the days and the seasons; HIM alone. December 25 will NEVER be possible without HIS Grace and no useless demon will hinder Christians all over the world to celebrate HIS SON on December, January, June, or any month they choose. Choosing HIM takes precedence over choosing a bastard demon. They can take that to the bank in hell. Be Blessed.
Heaaaa! Mr Memphis, you been brainwashed, I bet you Catholic.

DeleteABSOLUTELY! we are celebrating that with his life Jesus came to set us free from bondage, it doesn't matter if originally a pagan holiday was celebrated on that day (google o) what matters is that we as Christians are celebrating CHRIST!!!
ReplyDeleteWow.i love this
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm. Ok
ReplyDeleteWhat I agree with the most is that being a Christian has nothing to do with religion, but everything to do with one's relationship with God. If people understood this, and acted accordingly, Nigeria especially would be a much better place.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stella for this post:
ReplyDeleteRomans 14;.5 One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.

ReplyDeleteAnd also with U. The problem with christian is the churches and doctrine.
ReplyDeleteSalvation is the most important thing in this life.
ReplyDeleteCelebrating Christmas is not part of what God told us to do as his disciples, the origin of christmas was from d pagans celebrating a god during Satonela festive period from 17th to 25th Dec., if God wanted us to celebrate His birth, it will be mentioned in the bible and there will be a quotation to back it up. Luke 2:13-14"
13"Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." There is no mention to where d Angels merry for his birth, or where he celebrated his birthday. We need to read the bible and understand why the old and new testament was written, God bless you.
A proud member of Church of Christ, d only church mentioned in the bible ~Rom 16:16!
I love the write-up.
DeleteWe that celebrate our birthdays nko?
Is it in the bible to do so?
Serving God is in spirit and in truth, not by all these physical show of purity and piety which are often contrived to make one look righteous.
Which church be church of.Christ the only church mentioned in the bible?
DeleteI think it should be celebrated

You are obviously right about one thing, Christianity is your relationship with God, but what kind of relationship now becomes a matter.
ReplyDeleteToday many people think they can worship God the way they feel irrespective of what the Bible says. It is in this vain they have "made the word of God invalid because of thier tradion"(Math 15:6).
Do not be decieved, Christmas is an institution of man and not of God and many go into celebrating it because they feel no harm comes with it. But Jesus condemed people who teach commandments of men as doctrines when he said at Math 15:9 that "It is in vain they keep worshiping me, because they teach commandments of men as doctrines.
Do more research on what you celebrate, if you think its biblical, then consult the Bible to answer for you.
U av spoken well.
DeleteU r very correct! Pple r afraid of change, dats y Ɗεƴ stick to celebrating xmas even afta agreeing dat it È‹̝̊̅§ actually not d day of christ birth! D only tin Christ asked his followers to celebrate È‹̝̊̅§ his death n it was recorded @ Luke 22:19&20. Pple think!
DeleteGod said that if man he created in his image could not praise him as in celebrate him, he will command stone 2 do so. I must celebrate my jesus
ReplyDeleteAh what nonsense
ReplyDeleteWord! Well scripted! People are so religious nowadays that they forget to have a personal relationship with God.
ReplyDeleteChrist came to bridge the gap between humans and God, he's made us the righteousness of God. Stay in the know as you usher yourself into the new year...
We celebrate the birth and also the death of jesus as Christians, because this events brought us salvation making the grace of God bountiful for us, We only pick a certain date as humans for general celebration! In reality we are meant to be thankful and grateful that jesus came and died for our sin bearing all our burdens, shame and pain, that is why the grace of God is bountiful! All this controversial people science (the devil in form of science) stirring up controversies in the world i'd rather you seek the face of God, Pray and ask the holyspirit to Guide you on what and what not to believe.
ReplyDeleteI am so loving this post right now! Let all these religious bigots & hypocritical people realize that the birth of Jesus Christ is an event worth celebrating. Kudos!

ReplyDelete@Anonymous, you read the post quite alright but its obvious you didn't understand it. Christianity has nothing to do with RELIGION and the things you are saying has everything to do with Religion. JESUS CHRIST was considered a Radical because he wont accept all those laws that binds Humans. The Angels Celebrated the birth of Christ unless you have a different definition of the world Celebrate. CELEBRATE involves Praise, Giving Thanks, Being Happy, Singing...etc These are parts of what the Angels did! When people become too RELIGIOUS, they dig and find faults where there are non. Finally to Celebrate means to be Happy about something! Are you Happy that the Incarnation of GOD manifest on earth as a Human called JESUS? If YES! Then you celebrate his Birth (which we call Christmas).. Jesus went to Party, had fun with people, visited friends ate in the house, even hate with people considered as worse sinners (Zacchaeus).. He is not hung up on all these things Religious people are trying to have on people that is why he said "My Yoke is Easy" All he is concerned with, is our relationship with GOD. Focus on that and not whether people are Happy about his birth or not. It is CULTS that put all these different Laws while CHRIST Broke those Laws to set us free Stay Blessed
ReplyDeleteLove! Love!! Love!!! Your comment
DeleteYou couldn't have phrased this any better.

ReplyDeleteSDK,I am in trouble ooooo. I met a guy last year. I slept with him this year and now I've found out he works in my oga's office. We didn't know each other b4 we met oo. Then at my oga's end of Year Party,we met. Both of us were stunned. He was month suprised than me but I pretended.
ReplyDeleteE de pain devil say the world no get date to celebrate am cos his exsistence is so irrelevant to xtians! hence he uses goats and chickens in the name of religious bigots( pharesees and sadusees) to come up with one nonsense. Jesus is born to us. The Host of angels celebrated him. If you believe in Jesus, you MUST celebrate his coming for without it, devil for don use us as sand paper and rag. God never makes a mistake. A won esu people are just jealous! Dec 25th is Always going to be a day the whole world celebrates the coming of the King of Kings! Devil people una fit go to hell!
ReplyDeleteIt pains me when I see ppl worshiping Christ, he said he came to serve and not to be served. Now Jesus is getting more praises than God who created him. To thoSe who call him God, why will I call some1 who ate food, shits, pees and Sleeps God. This iS time for us to truly think, reflect and worship God. Ppl proudly say I must worship Christ can u imagine God shitting eating n sleeping?
ReplyDeleteWhat u've written up there is close to blasphemy!
DeleteJesus Christ is co-equal with God, He is God in human form, begotten but not created. Pls read the 1st 3 chapters of John.
He had to come as a man to rectify what the first man (Adam) caused. That's why He's called the last Adam.
He also had to come because no one else could accomplish this feat, because every one born of the seed of man was tainted with sin, hence the immaculate conception.
He had to identify fully with those He came to save so had same biological functions as us, and the bible says He was tempted on all points but did not sin. That's why He was called the perfect sacrifice.
You cannot worship God except thru Christ. He is THE way, THE truth and THE life. The ONLY route to God! (Bold words for emphasis).
On 2nd thoughts, pls read the whole Gospel of John for starters.
Your comment really got to me!
I LOVE dis write-up... God bless U Stella and the writer...Christianity is neva a religion but a WAY of life...I GO CELEBR8 XMAS TILL HE COMES. Hapi New Year to U all
