BETWEEN MANDELA AND WINNIE
Sometimes i wonder why Mandela could not forgive Winnie, with all his highly flaunted ability to forgive.
If he could forgive people who incarcerated him for close to 30 years, wetin Winnie do that he could not overlook, even if that would mean "Thank You Winnie for waiting for me".
I have read and studied all the issues between them. But i still cannot reconcile myself to the fact that Mandela could divorce Winnie and pick another wife.
When the divorce was announced, Winnie must be a shattered woman. Some women will commit suicide one time. Having waited for a man for close to 30 years, having fought for release for close to 30 years, having raised the children alone for close to 30 years, having ... having ... having... what could she have done that a man could not say "I overlook all your mistakes. I will cleave to you for ever!"
Winnie is the greatest looser! She lost the limelight of being the wife of the man she waited for. She lost the glamour of the first ladyship. She lost the bedroom comfort. The biggest loss? Not being there when the man died. Her man died in the arms of another woman! I just hope our women will not loose confidence in we men. Matters of the heart get as e be o.
God, please dont hold this against Mandela at the gate of heaven.
