Oshiomole telling the widow to ''go and die..'' |
Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo today Friday November 29,2013 apologised for the comments he made to a widow in Benin during an inspection tour on Mission Road, in the state capital, a fortnight ago.
Oshiomhole said that he now regretted the comments which had become the subject of discourse in the social media.
The Governor, however, noted that he made the comments in anger.
Oshiomhole’s apology was made when the leadership of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), paid him a courtesy visit in Benin.
He noted that though the challenge of modern times had bestowed on the shoulders of some women and single mothers the status of bread winners of their homes, such should not be used as an accuse to flout the laws……………culled
*Okay he has apologised...fine but shouldn't he be apologising to the lady?shouldn't he be returning
her wares that was taken away?shouldn't he ask if she has children and put them on government scholarship to help ease her burden? He has apologised to FOMWAN and that's it?
Anyone who reads this can say i am hating on the governor but that's your two cents,Oshiomole needs to look for that woman and make it up to her...He abused her emotionally..he took away her only source of livelihood and only God knows how she has managed to put food on the table since then.
Please if you know Oshiomole, tell him to do the right thing...i am sure i speak the mind of a few people...this is my two cents and i am not moving an inch forward or backward.
Gbam!!! You spoke my mind too.
ReplyDeleteVery correct!
DeleteThis is one of the cases where apology just won't do!
Edo state PDP Press release "Edo PDP watched with consternation Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s brutal, inhuman and merciless treatment of a widow street-trader whose wares he ordered seized and who he unfeelingly told to ‘…go and die’ even as she knelt down in fervent protestations and appeals to his pity on a helpless widow. The governor’s actions are appalling, insensate, disgraceful, indecent, cruel and below board. It is clear that he does not care much about the well being of the people as he pretentiously avowed. Our hearts go to that hapless widow in this her time of travails and through her, to other widows who have been oppressed by the unfriendly policies of the administration in Edo State. The PDP, Edo State will not let any Edo person ‘to go and die’ if it can help it, especially not hardworking people like that widow who are engaged in lawful enterprises that are, in themselves, not easy to carry on. To this end, our party has instituted an endowment fund for all widows and oppressed people in the state and by this release, we invite the widow captured in the video of the encounter with Governor Oshiomhole to come to the PDP Secretariat on No. 70, Sapele Road, at 11am on Tuesday December 3, 2013 to receive a first-installment sum of N250,000.00 to cushion the pain, trauma and loss occasioned by her mistreatment and the seizure of the items she sells. Governance is about the people and as a responsible National Institution, Edo PDP cannot be unconcerned about the wrong treatment of indigenes of the state to whom the present administration promised heaven just to win their votes." Signed Dan Orbih State chairman Edo state PDP
DeleteIs this BS press release for real?then the widows and all. Beneficiaries should becareful of the Greek gift!
DeleteEven dou the govnor messed up,I still believe his nastiest act and behavior is better than a hug and kiss' from anybody from PDP!
PDP is synonymous to badluck in this country!they should STFU abeg!
He needS to apologies to her in public and build her a shop .
ReplyDeleteThen give her million naira CASH for her pain and humiliation.
Social media is really kicking ass(es )!
Must u comment? Bold woman!
Delete@stella asemota , really? Being poor does not give d'right to break the law. Though the governor was too harsh but then d'woman is neither a saint for breaking the law.
DeleteHey Stella Asemota, let me handle this one for you please, step aside inugo? Anon 3:28pm * in julits voice": rie nsi dere ede di oku" ! (Go figure that) ah ah...where is your very intelligent contribution to the topic? Let Stella asemota be!
DeleteU r so Right Stella!! He must b an arsehole to think he can just apologise and dats it! Wat a wicked and ugly man. Black in and out. Dis can never happen here in d Uk, Oshiomole would ave been sacked by now. Bullocks. !
ReplyDeleteIt's actually bollocks not bullocks. So now we know u live in the uk like me and many others on here. Kini big deal
DeleteAsk ur papa d big deal. U r a nutter. Its either bollocks or bullocks. Just saying it cant happen in d Uk not trying to hype myself. Jobless aproko. Odee oshii.!
DeleteAwon innit *In Seyi Law vooce*
DeleteI agree with you Stella though he doesn't have to single out her children for scholarship. There are so many widows in Edo State and it is not until they are abused by the Governor before their children can also get a shot at a better life.
ReplyDeleteMy take is he should create a programme targeted to empowering widows with children.
SDK,well said. He should thru the market union look for that widow. Get her a shop n stock the shop for her. Thanks Comrade for apologising.
ReplyDeleteWell said Stella. ...he should look 4 the woman and put smile on her face.
ReplyDeleteMr Governor, do the right thing. Apology not accepted yet until u channel it to the right person. Gbam!
ReplyDeletemedicine after death, d sad truth is that he is not fit to be a governor with such words in public and also he is not a leader but a ruler. In a normal advance country/society he sud hv been force to resign by now bcus he was voted to serve the people and not the other way round by claiming to be demi-god. rubbish man i must say and a widower for that matter enjoying public funds
ReplyDeleteHe smoked alomo bitters b4 making that statement nw his eyes is cleared and he's apologising, anyways mr kaaki governor go and do the right thing!#Eating uripe mango and sips small stout#
ReplyDeleteSometimes situation drags people into doing what they dont want too, i can understand him. its all good. one more thing let him look for the lady and replace her stuffs.
ReplyDeleteWhat celebs do to get famous in Nigeria now in the open my God
Welll spoken anty stella
ReplyDeleteyou are totally right.apologies is not doing much to change the destruction of the woman's means of livelihood if it is not followed by proactive and concerted action to reimburse her and give her a shop where she can sell her wares unmolested and undisturbed
ReplyDeleteHe should withdraw that statement, apologise to the lady and return her wares. He sounded so callous and you could see that air of shoulder lifting (igberaga) around him when he was talking. If he was not showing off, shouldnt he have just asked for her to take her things away and not create a scene - simply ugly at heart!!!
ReplyDeletegbam aunty stella u speak my mind
ReplyDeletena apology wee wan chop?
ReplyDeleteAbeg,,,,arrange for d woman Jarre
Gv am Presidential treatment
Thank jesus u don see say u kno do am well
@Galore
U are so on point. The man of all people should know better. I guess this is what tasting money and having power does to people. This man used to be a Labour leather fighting for the masses so we thought then not knowing that he was only doing that for his personal ambition. A lot if people used to idolized him for his principles and un compromised character . Yeah right !!! Nothing of such since he has been the governor. Luckily for him. He can only do that kind if nonsense and get away with it in Naija. He dare not try this is US or any civilized country for that matter. He would have either be pressured by his party to resign or make a very open apology to the woman . Hypocrite and useless diarrhea mouth man. I used to look up to him back them when he was a labor leather as an inspiration not knowing that he was as fake as they come. That is abusing office power on a poor woman looking for a means of livelihood for his family. How dare he? He had lost my personal respect for him and I know that he doesn't 't care about my personal respect as an individual but I know that a lot of people have no regard for him again too. Verbal abuse in private can be traumatized not to talk of being abuse in public from someone in the position to stop people from being bully or abuse both in private or public . THIS MAN IS A BULLY AND AN IDIOT. And he owes this woman a public apology same way he abuse her . There are many civilized way he could have handled the situation. Uncivilized bunch of idiots that treats citizen like animals. Thank God I live where my voice and opinion matters .
ReplyDeleteYour grammar is something else. That's one of the reason I ended my relationship with my ex boyfriend
Delete"Leather"? Thot it was a typo until u repeated it
DeleteWell, irrespective of the grammar, he/she made a salient point. His humanitarian characteristics drowned the day he mounted the throne of leadership. Same with Reuben Abati whom I used to adore for his eloquence, ruggedness, and intelligence. Soon as he became the presidency spokes person his passion for the masses was withdrawn...He channelled it to fight for the unjust. it aches my heart. No wonder it is often said that you tend to know a man's truest character only when he's in a position of authority.
DeleteBut fearless ya wicked #dead @ leather icant
DeleteYou have spoken well, one of the qualities of a good leader is to know how to control his anger, he has shown he lack that quality and we have noted that.
ReplyDeleteIt is only in Nigeria that government make laws to inconvenient the masses while they neglect their duties. Nothing is in place for the citizens no job creation, poor roads, poor health system yet they make law to stop people who have managed to create employment for them self to meet up their basic needs. God is watching you
Oshiomole is a disgrace
Visit www.oyenikealliyu-adebiyi.blogspot.com for answers to all your questions in law
Thanks SDk
Anger or no anger dat man is a tactless fool!He has lost d respect of Nigerians and widows. Its d likes of Dilish of BBA dat he can shell millions on just to lure her t nija bt heaps insult n curses on poor defenseless widows who God himself have vowed t protect..Oshiomole's end cant be good till he compensates dis woman. Mark my words
ReplyDeleteSo what should be done to law abiding widows who struggle not to sell at the roadside? What r u trying to encourage Stella?
ReplyDeleteMy thots exactly...
DeleteGo and sleep joor! Nobody is justifying her breaking the law but there are more appropriate ways of handling these matters.
DeleteHow dare he play god?
He could. Have let her off with a warning considering the wailing and plea!
I am happy someone shares this same view, been thinking, why do nigerians commit crime and stuffs' and now start using their condition to beg?
DeleteBut i think It's a form of manipulation!the truth remains she was wrong, but the 'widow thing has created sentiment to cover pple's eyes from seeing.we really need to learn to be more logical than emotional in our judgement if we must fix things!
Disclaimer :i am not in support of the guvnor's choice of words!
As I was saying for eg,weeks ago a thief crept into my neighbourhood with an unloaded gun(well maybe he forgot, was rushing. To duty lol)luckily the man he entered his house was a strong and daring man,he overpowered him and raised alarm, when pple gathered trust, they started beating him,the bloody thief started telling us he's an orphan and he's epileptic so pple should pls mercy him,so should such a deadly creature be pitied cos he said such things?thats pure manipulation pple are using lately.
Well he was given a beautiful 'parting gift'of a broken leg before the cops came to take him away!#tongue out#
I totally agree with you. He should find that woman and apologise to her!
ReplyDeletehttp://Earn4Family.com/?share=15133
You Nigerians are an obstinate lot.....so cos she is a widow she should do the wrong thing? Yes he was rude but he was annoyed cos you keep saying the same thing over and over again but people keep putting sentiments.....if our society is going to be better and cleaned up then we need to do the right thing...we should stop giving excuses of people breaking the law.....and any one who curses me back to sender cos the truth has to be told
ReplyDeleteOshiomhole really needs to apologise to this woman. It's more than just apologising orally, he needs to back it up with actions. I never knew how viral this video has gone until I saw comments from Femi Fani Kayode on facebook. The good thing is that the woman's life will never be the same again. Japhet Omojuwa has raised N164,000.00 on twitter the last time I checked and my sister-in-law also mentioned on facebook that she has a friend who is willing to give the woman N500,000. She asked for the woman's address in Benin. How I wish someone knows her address.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that Adams Oshiomhole, who used to be a labour leader could use such cruel words on a woman who obviously is living from hand to mouth. Well, that's what power does, it intoxicates. I really appreciate the blogs also for making this known to the public. In fact, if I am not mistaken, blogs were the first to make this cruelty known.
Oshiomhole should remember there is a God in heaven and He raises the poor and makes them sit with kings and He also ridicules the proud. He should learn to be humble.
you sooo spoke my mind Stella,i wish i can slap some sense into him mehnn...cant wait for next elections if una like vote for am again!!!!! RUBBISH!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a gud news if he has apologised, maybe it was destined for the widow to v an encounter with him(blessing in disguise). Back to matter, abeg mk una no dey pick nose for public, saw one chick in d market picking her nose absent mindedly. Be conscious of urslf always My 2cents.
ReplyDeleteMany people don't understand the gravity of what that idiot did to the poor woman. Life is hard enough as it is. He said that in anger?! What sort of example is he? How sure are we that he didn't used to beat his wife sef. Anyway aunty stella I kinda disagree with you on the scholarship thing cuz how many people would they give scholarships to? He should apologise by setting a business up for her. I mean make her independent n useful to other widows too. That's my 2penny o
ReplyDeleteU pple tLk too much here, am writing names of noise makers nd guess who needs it d president himself. Hissssssssss
ReplyDeleteDefinitely he will help her, u were all abusing him but thank God he regrets his actions and he is sorry 4 what he said, I know alot of rich folks who can never say sorry even if they kill someone. It is well
ReplyDeleteapology is not enough? he should settle her so that other widows can come to the roadside with their wares in a bid to get their own settlement? she broke the law for God sake! should disobedience be rewarded in our society?
ReplyDeleteThis useless old fool, sometime I wonder how my late aunty married e useless self.
ReplyDeleteSingle her out, apologise, I agree with you SDK. And also create an avenue for helping widows in the state. But returning her wares? That's not going to happen. Tomorrow some other widow will break the law and shed tears so that they'll receive pity and their wares won't be siezed. What then do we encourage in our society? We have widows who abide by the law, so it's not as if it's a big deal. The law is the law, no matter your status. Nigerians are notorious for disregarding regulations all over the world that sometimes we use our pitiable state as an excuse to break rules. Which developed nation will condone widows or poor people breaking laws? None. So, in as much as I join the call for Oshiomhole's special apology to the widow, and setting up an avenue to assist widows and families in the state, I maintain that she, on her part, has to face the consequence of her action. It's not difficult obeying laws as a poor person. I was once poor too. Jesus Christ was poor. Be blessed.
ReplyDeleteThe oppositing PDP has fixed a date to hand over 250k cash to the traumatised widow. There's a press release to that effect. Osho baba has used his 'highness' to crash APC. LOLzzzz.
ReplyDeleteHollier than thou
ReplyDeleteIts not about words its about action, He should help the widow get a shop so she can stop selling by the road side, together with an apology to her and not the public. HIS SAYING SORRY NA DAT ONE WE/SHE GO CHOP
ReplyDeleteFriends, My opinion is that we need to approach issues of Policy and leadership with less emotions. The video that went viral online we all watch most likely. It is clear that they team led by was trying to enforce a rule. In as much there would have been better ways to put that, I think we cannot neglect the fact that rules need to be obeyed. I have been at at the airport and lads cut with drugs claim that they are orphans and need to take care of there family and decided to do drugs. Now I ask, If I go into armed robbery because I am a poor orphan or because I need to pay a family bill, should I be treated differently from other armed robbers? Please let me mention here that I am really not a fan of Comrade Adams but please friends, while we share the pain of the woman, let us know that there is no excuse to default a law or commit crime. If we think she needs to be rewarded, then in my view, all other Widows in the state who abide my the rules too should even be rewarded more.
ReplyDeleteApologise to her for what? She knews she was a widow, why did she not thread softly knowing quite alright she has no husband to support her and that she has only God? Why was she flaunting orders and laws? in a bid to do ur duty in Nigeria you would always be tagged wicked by the same people that are clamouring for good governance. Abeggiiiii the governor just owes her her wares not any freaking apology!!!
ReplyDeleteAaa ur gbaguan no be here ooh
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteU are so right Stella. He has to make amends
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteIf she broke the law and her wares were seized in accordance with the law, the governor does not have to return them. Will he return the wares of others who are orphans, widows, widowers, single and lonely etc?
He doesn't have to give her money or train her kids. Why should she be singled out and compensated for breaking the law? What about the other widows in Benin? Should they start breaking the law to get favour from the governor?
He said something bad to her. He has apologised. He may decide to go a step further by inviting her to apologise one on one and give her whatever his heart pleases. Its now a private affair that doesn't need any publicity.
Let him get lost. It is only when someone is angry or drunk u know their true behaviour. Badly behaved man. Black heart!!!
ReplyDeleteStephanie says
ReplyDeleteAdams next time watch ur word
You people should all shut up.....he insulted her that was bad but cos you are a widow do you break the law? It is this kind of emotional blackmail that doesn't make us progress as a nation....he is trying to clean up a state and the same group of people keep drawing us back...there are other things to be done for widows to get a means of livelihood and if we need to clean up a system then so be it......you all come here to make noise about Nigeria not being like other places yet you do not want to accept the level of discipline that has made other places better......he has apologized to her if you all don't like it make una go jump for lagoon......how many of you here have ever done anything to help widows in need? You give yourself allowances yet you put governors on an impossible pedestal where they can never make mistakes abi? Una all lie.....hypocrites all quick to judge others yet do worse things in your own closets....others who have been stopped from selling who are not widows are they not human beings? People should stop playing on sentiments and stop exerts rating issues.....while nobody is supporting what he did, he has apologized so stop making noise like you are All perfect
ReplyDeleteStella assmota with your ugly mouth so cos they abused her they should build her a shop....have u ever in your life given any widow a lifeline? So other widows who obey the law do not deserve the same mercy? Sentimental bullshit......he was wrong to talk to her the way she did, he has apologized if una no gree then too bad......every hypocrite will come here and abuse oshi omoale now like they have not said worse things to people.....any way humans na una way....
ReplyDeleteUna go dey find her trouble. That is why she dey unleash thunder for una head.
DeleteAsemota try to dey ignore this fools.
Mbok that!
PDP oshi! if they give the law breaking widow N250k, then they shd prepare to give law abiding widows N1m. nonsense!
