Enugu First Lady,Clara Chime Hires Falana To Secure Her Release

                                         CLARA CHIME FIRST LADY ENUGU

According to SAHARA Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has asked the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. MD Abubakar, to ensure the immediate release from unlawful detention of Mrs. Clara Chime, the First Lady of Enugu State who is being held hostage at Government House Enugu by Governor Sullivan Chime, or be dragged to court.
In a letter dated November 1, 2013, Mr. Falana, representing Mrs. Chime, pointed out that his client has been kept incommunicado in solitary confinement for over four months on the directives of Governor Chime.

“Thus our client’s fundamental rights to the dignity of her person, personal liberty, fair hearing, private and family life and freedom of movement guaranteed by the Constitution and the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 have been violated without any legal justification,” it said.
“Although our client’s dehumanizing detention conditions have had deleterious effects on her psychological state as well as her mental and physical health she has been denied access to her doctors by her abductors,” the petition said.  “It is particularly disturbing to note that some of the police and state security service personnel assigned to secure the safety of the Enugu State governor, his wife and other family members have aided and abetted Mr. Chime in subjecting our client to egregious infringements of her aforesaid fundamental rights.”
It pointed out, however, that unlike the governor who is currently immune from prosecution under the constitution, the police and state security service officials involved in the illegal arrest and detention of Mrs. Chime ought to be sanctioned under the relevant laws.
In a letter exclusively published by SaharaReporters on October 28, Mrs. Chime complained that Governor Chime had placed her under house arrest, and begged human rights bodies to come to her rescue.
She said that eminent personalities such as President and Mrs. Goodluck Jonathan and the Bishop Callistus Onaga of Enugu State and other top priests had attempted to intervene in the matter without success.

Among other things, Mrs. Chime said she had been introduced to two psychiatrists, Dr. Onwukwe and Dr. Agumo, who prescribed “all kinds of drugs that ends up keeping me acute depressed and also drives me into hallucinations.”

*I dont understand this at all...didnt my friend tell me that they were both spotted at an event last week in the east?they walked in late and left before anyone noticed`?was she under duress or did someone dress up as her to fool the public?i dont understand at all.

If she can get a lawyer to represent her,why can she not just stand up and walk out of that environment?run, elope, vanish?

    1. Absolutely. I think that she may have appeared in public with him under duress, if at all.

And since this news first broke, if it weren't true by now the gov's spokes person would have debunked the earlier news. However, without hearing from the other party (the gov), I think I want to believe this lady. Being that Nigerians are 'power drunk', and as such.. no one who's enjoying being the first lady of any region would willingly give up the comfort of their luxurious capacity for something trivial...or for a mere irreconcilable domestic difference.

So I think there's something really wrong. She's prolly "suffering and smiling"... hence she wants out of her husband and her befitting post. Huge sacrifice to be happy I must say. Some other women would rather die a first lady than move out of the govt house no matter what their gov hubby has up his sleeves.

And I trust Falana to handle the situation to a logical conclusion. She sure is in safe hands. Shame on that governor tho.

    1. On a second thot. I remember that in the earlier report it was said that the first lady and GEJ intervened but backed out after a while without being able to successfully amend their strife.

Makes me wonder..why the first lady who's a woman and a mother like her, and is even old enough to be her mother, did not follow the issue suit? Atleast if it was absolved that the union has hit the rocks, she should have compelled the gov to allow her return to her family, instead of leaving her to her fate. If this lady had committed suicide, the first lady wouldn't have come out to say she was aware of her situation. They would have all started with their usual condolence visits and show offs in the media. Death after burial.

So where does this leave madame Jonathan's capacity/strength of office as a first lady? How can she possibly resolve bigger issues when she could not manage one close to her nose? Mshew!

    2. If Mr and Mrs Patience....oh! sorry Jonathan, intervened before and backed out, then it's possible that the woman is seriously mentally ill and needed to be confined before she hits the streets as a raving maadt!
      Might just be!
Falana should ascertain her mental state before fighting for her freedom pls.

    3. Queen Bee she's mentally sound. You have no idea what goes on in that govt house. Sullivan Chime is a snake. The woman can't stand all his atrocities anymore. He got clara's younger sister pregnant. They throw orgies on a regular at Soggy's house. Clara's step children are not even helping at. Ada Chime(married now) slaps her step mother around while the younger one smokes like a chimney and lives in sahara restaurant. They drove her to her mental state. You have no idea. What it means to be forced to take depression medication. It messes you up. I pray God exposes Sullivan and Jide Chime with their cohorts.

  5. Stella, this is what happens when you marry a man because of OWO. She has psychological/mental (crazy) problems and like many people in Nigeria, her husband has kept her indoors so as not to cause embarrassment.
Those who know her well can attest to this. Remember that She is not Sullivans first wife.

    I wish her quick recovery.

  26. Anon 6:31am, God bless you! Nigerians are so backward. They dont even know the difference between depression(which most people go trough) and madness.

As for you Moi, you are such a silly woman. Just listen to your self. You sound so bush, classless,a complete retard, my goodness. "i am a billionaire, i go to the spar?" Darling, you sound more like you are typing from your flat! If you were a real billionaire or whatever you choose to call yourself, you would understand where this lady is coming from and going through. I really hate women like you.So my dear, shut the fuck up!!! and keep dreaming of flying in a private jet, because thats all it would always be, dreams. Fucktard!!!

  29. Poor lady. She is suffering from depression. Very common. She is not MAD. The poor lady would probably be loaded with ancient drugs that would worsen the situation. She needs a breath of fresh air and counseling. I would never advise any young lady to put her head in a divorced mans home without asking questions why the first marriage didn't work. Some Nigerian men are evil. i pray you get over it Clara. I understand what you are going through. Its not easy marrying men like that. She needs all the support of every single one of us. We need to speak up for this lady please. We can condemn later, please.

    1. The first marriage didn't work because the idiot governor was sleeping with his dirty house maid. Even gave her head and his wife found out and left his sorry ass. Sullivan Chime is a sick bastard. Ask his neighbours. This happened when he was living at uwani enugu.

I know lots of people who are taking them quietly. when u see someone suddenly grow fat, just know it is oh. cos many people are on it and you wont know. even bosses of big companies. so it can be anyone. she isn't mad, just needs to change environment and perharps leave her husband for sometime. some men actually put women through this. tufiakwa! no man can ake me loose my life oh. I will just bounce. my life is precious. let me function for myself, my parents, my children and my siblings. before I come and die for one man!!!

  33. Mrs Zulu, there's more to the story than they are letting out. Dame GEJ must have heard all sides and looked away. It will be interesting to hear the Governor's side of the story to enable sift the wheat from the chaff.

  35. choi.... now i pity her...so sad.Sullivan Chime is human and like every one of us he has his own demons. He is one of the best governors in the East.He has given Enugu a tremendous face lift.I also know his a terrible womanizer,a trait he has always exhibited long before he married Clara.Clara was aware of all this when she walked in, not to forget tht it was his womanizing and her aristocracy tht brot them together.A man is not expected to change over night talk more of a grown ass man in his 50s with all the money to do whtever. So im not shocked at Chime ,i only pity clara who pitched her tent in a wrong place.I only hope she can fined peace somehow and start rebuilding her life.

  37. Wen she was running around enugu with her ordealies flogging fellow tresspassers she should have know she would loose her sanity if not checked. Why is the first lady been called upon is settling family disputes part of her office too? That her sister got pregnant for her husband leaves a big question mark on their upbring.
