Akon And Wizkid Reject Dark Skinned Girls For Music Video Shoot And Request For ''Halfcastes''

According to Clutch Magazine Online Akon and Wizkid made a blunder recently and their latest article is calling out the two African performers to state their stand on the issue or be boycotted when they perform shows in Ghana...I just hope it is not true or like the write up insinuated, they should deny it and move on

''Akon, Akon, Akon. Shame on you. WizKid? Well, I have no clue who you are, but apparently you’re some sort of Akon “protege”. The two artists have an upcoming concert and video shoot taking place in Ghana. Allegedly, some of the Ghanaian models were turned away because they were too dark and were told by the agent the two artists were looking for “half-caste” women. Half-cast meaning mixed.

A model reported on the day of the shoot some girls were turned away as the agent (or the man responsible for calling them) informed them that “they now want half cast girls”. A term used to describe girls with mixed heritage, usually ones with white blood in them.

“THEY”, most likely referring to WizKid, Akon and/or his music video producer, turning away a fleet of arrivals originally requested to attend by the model scout. In fact, the agent requested if the girls could help him seek light skinned girls because ‘THEY’ were so adamant on this request even on late notice.

Nigeria, where WizKid is from, and Senegal where Akon is from, are countries both flooded with girls bleaching their skin simply because of such discrimination and being made to feel ugly if dark. Not just in media and modelling, but general favours in life. Whilst there are good people in both countries trying to reverse the self esteem damage of such activities such as Adama Paris who banned skinned bleach models from the Senegalese national fashion week, Akon and Wiz Kid’s team are trying to further such acts internationally.

If this is the intentions Akon and the arrogant side kick WizKid wish to introduce to Ghana, then we will be more than glad to uninvite them. Unfortunately for these bigots, Ghana has never been a land where girls are discriminated for skin tone in any field. In such matters, it is obvious they will pass the blame onto an employee to maintain their reputation. But for any such behavior, both these artists should be boycotted until their position is clarified.

If this “half-cast” casting was truly in effect, you can all blame colonialism.

*Na wah ooo.

  8. I'm not surprised. Here in Nigeria, modeling agencies and advertising firms specify "light skinned or half caste models only". I know friends who have bleached out their skin just to be picked for ushering jobs. The movie industry also favours light skinned actresses, that's why bleaching is on the increase. I'm sure Wiz and Akon will have a good lie for this.

  9. Na today. Nigerian men prefer light skinned ladies with
Long hair. Supply is driven by demand . So many women bleach and buy Brazilian hair. I just laugh when men complain about this but routinely pick fair ladies over dark ones. Make una go Siddon

  16. Non issue. People who bleach their skin have self confidence issues Biko.

The way you go to market and buy what suits you is the way the guys have requested for what they "want". Ain't nothing wrong with that. That's how people just like to cause wahala for no reason. Give me one good reason why the girls must be black

  17. I wnt believe this story until wizzy or akon confirms it or do otherwise....
And also, there are many videos from ghanain artistes that have featured more "white", "half-caste" or "light skinned" girls than "dark-skinned" girls.. Check all sarkodie's and R2bees' videos.... Infact almost every african artists do this. While I appreciate the fact that this trend shld be totally eliminated and the video directors make use girls of different colors, I want to state here that this article and other article about this particular issue is more of a vendetta against wizkid and co.
What about those videos where only dark skinned girls were used, why didn't any light skinned african girl come out to complain? I swear, black people are more racists than these white people. We have become racists ourselves simply bcos we r too concerned about defending our colour against any racial slur or remark thrown at us

  18. @ Galore, You are not different from them. Why are you so bitter? Why not just attack him and not his tribe? People like you are the one that is not making Nigeria moved forward. I feel sorry for your miserable self.

  21. I quote:Martin Luther King in his most popular saying. :'I have a dream, that one day we(blacks)will be judged by the contents of our characters and not by the colour of our skin'#paraphrased nyway#
But here we are today, discriminating against ourselves!smh.so where do we go from here?worst still the culprits are as dark as hell!
Slavery mentality has eaten deep into us,some pple are still slaves in the heart even after being free!dats y dey still look up' to the white skin, hahahaha!
