The Aussie passport has been ranked as one of the best in the world for travellers, based on the number of countries Australians can visit without a visa.
The best passports are from the UK, Finland and Sweden, according to an index by Henley & Partners, a consultancy in residence and citizenship planning.
Each of the top three passports scored 173 in the rankings, meaning they can be used to enter 173 countries and territories without a visa.
The joint second-ranked countries are Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg and the US with a score of 172.
Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands hold a joint third rank of 171, followed by Canada in fourth with 170, then Switzerland, Austria and New Zealand fifth with 168.
Australia is ranked equal sixth with Greece and Singapore with visa-free entry to 167 countries.
The worst passport, number 93 on the list, is from Afghanistan with a score of just 28, closely followed by Iraq (31), Somalia and Pakistan (32 each).
Their lowly scores indicate their citizens have the least freedom of travel.
In addition, some countries such as Argentina charge Australians a reciprocity fee to enter the country.
The $US100 fee has been imposed in response to Australia charging Argentine citizens to come here. Americans and Canadians are also slugged with a fee.
Meanwhile, India has announced it is looking to ease visa rules for more than 40 countries by issuing visas on arrival to boost its tourism industry.
Australia will be among the countries to benefit from the new rules, as well as the US, Britain, Canada, Brazil, France and Germany.
India already issues visas on arrival to visitors from about a dozen countries, including New Zealand.
Best countries to have a passport from

So glad to be among d best three...yippee
ReplyDeleteFirst of all it must be made clear that yes you can hop on a plane and go to these countries on a visa waiver list according to the passport you hold without a prior visa but on arrival it is up to the immigration officer to determine whether or not you will enter the country. My friend and her German holding passport was denied entry to South Africa because she previously overstayed there. I have another friend with an American passport who was denied entry into the UK due to some past immigration related issues. So don't smile too hard it is up to the immigration officer at the port of entry to decide whether or not you will enter their country. I have seen white people being extra nice to immigration officers at a certain African countries airport because they know that is the only way they will enter the country. And this list of no visa is only for tourist purposes oh to work you must get a work permit like everyone else unless it is EU to EU and even then some EU countries require some sort of registration for the non citizen EU people who want to work in their country.
ReplyDeleteRead ur own post. The pple u mentioned had immigration issues. For the majority of pple with no immigration issues, visa free is really VISA FREE!
DeleteIf as a Nigerian youve got UK visa then u don't need a visa to go to Turkey. It's a policy that's been around for 2-3 yrs
ReplyDeleteAnon #21.......Am sure u that made that looooooooong list does not know naijas does not care
ReplyDeleteAbeg anonymous 5.34pm all dis countries u mention my bro abi sis abeg wetin those countries get to offer biko abi na just to go 2wks or 1wk holiday nd come nck to square one
ReplyDeleteBro abi sis leff marra our green kpali na for gutter e belong but e pain me say naim I stil dey use but by his special grace I go change am soon
Please you all should kindly remove Singapore from the list of countries that is visa free for Nigerians, because it isn't!
ReplyDeleteLast time I was in singapore, had to obtain a visa before getting into the country..
Naija P is visa free to my villa
ReplyDeleteCheckin Biafra
ReplyDeleteImmigration issue or no immigration issue it is up to the immigration officer at the port of entry to decide whether or not you are fit to enter their country and like i said the visa free issue is for tourist purposes only anything from one month to 3 months depending on the laws of that country and you cannot convert your tourist visa to work or business or study permit you have to leave the country and apply at your country of residence for any other category, and yes you will still get your passport stamped at the entrance unless it is EU to EU so don't think you will hop on a plane with a Yankee passport and just breeze through heathrow when you land in jand you will still go thru the same process those who acquired visas beforehand go through. Immigration questions like What is your business in the UK? Where will you be staying how long will you be staying and fill in a landing card just like anyone else. The way some people are getting excited here they think because you hold jand passport you can just go to Australia and study or work no my friend you have to apply for appropriate visa British people who misused their tourist visa in Australia have been deported from there before so don't get too happy rules are there to be obeyed. You people need to watch Airport or Border control programs especially for Australia pple with European and Yankee passports being detained by immigration and questioned for hours before being let in or sent back. Things that tip them off that you are up to no good one way ticket, ticket bought last minute like previous day or day of travel usually tip off immigration officers. I follow this guy on twitter he is white American born yankee passport holder yesterday he was tweeting about how he was held up by immigration because he bought his ticket last minute and it was one way and he wanted to enter UK they finally let him in after an hour
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahaha
ReplyDeleteThat's my Australian passport right there.
Best decision I took in my life.
Comments #28 and #38 are spot on. Mobility of travel is about visits, which from a naija passport perspective is still a problem. Focus on how to make Nigeria better and you will become more respectable to the international community.
ReplyDeletepealie your first comment is false. don't mislead people.
ReplyDeleteGood job...you are absolutely right. Welldone for sharing.
