Ovulation has been explained one and a million ways on when it might occur on google but it is still something so hard for some women to understand.
....Sadly a large percent of women who make love and seek to get pregnant need help finding their targeted days to get it in.
Ovulation as explained by google and ovulation on ground might be different?
Some women only ovulate for a few hours on a single day but they do not know!
Some women ovulate a day or two but cannot find which days!
Some women do not even ovulate at all!
Some need to boost their hormone system but do not even know.
Some feel the best way is to make love everyday except when they are bleeding.....but manage to miss their targeted days to get pregnant...why does this happen?
I am not a medical expert but i do know that we can help each other LOCALLY calculate how to spot their 'peak day/s'

ReplyDeleteI use an app called "my days". You enter your period information and it tells you your high fertility days and the day you ovulate. Its very accurate and free. I used it to get preggo for my two kids.

DeleteHello, I use a calendar for my circle and it serves. You can download "my calendar" that's the name. Input your first and last day of circle and it does the other calculations for you like days of ovulation. Cheers
DeleteI've heard that the spermatozoa can survive within a woman up to 3 days after she has had intercourse. So for those who ovulate for less than two days, you know what to do to get pregnant. Good luck.

Dearest Stella, i recommend this book called EVERY WOMAN to our young ladies. I never quite understood my body till i read this book! Fantastic. They even sell it fake copy in 'Go Slow' Grab a copy ladies, you would understand what is going on in your body. Ovulation, childbirth, infections etc.

DeleteIf you have a steady monthly circle, 14days after your period is best assumed as your ovulation. However, it is safer and wiser to count 14days after the last day of your last period and then circle the four days surrounding that 14th day. (Two days before and two days after) cos u may not really know which is the actual day that the egg fertilizes. Some do know as they feel abdominal cramp but it aint certain. The one thing you are sure of is that those 4 surrounding days are your highly fertile days. (I.e the vagina is regarded as Very wet days/egg white mucus/very slippery) after which late pap sets in..meaning low fertile days.

No ma'am. 14 days before your expected next period because the 2nd half of your cycle is constant for all women. The first half varies. So if ur menstrual cycle is 31 days long you would ovulate on the 17th day.(my maths no good:) but I like ur 4 day theory though.

Can use ur calender...some Women hv other symptoms like abd cramps,breast fullness and increased temp...dn d vaginal discharge is lighter n more 'elastic/stringy'...for a woman to notice ds she needs to study her cycle ...at least 3 consecutive cycles...to kno d cycle length n whn all dse changes eventually tk place...cheers

ReplyDeleteI never knew much about my cycle till I was about getting married (I never bothered to pay attention to it tho, all i knew was that i know when to expect my next period) until my mum sat me down to educate me on how to know my body, my safe period and my fertile period etc.
ReplyDeleteYou can spot the exact time you are ovulating by paying serious attention to your vaginal discharge. It takes a lot of paying attention really. During ovulation, the discarge is thick, odourless, colourless and slimy just like mucus. Some people have ovulation cramps that period too but I don't or maybe its too mild that I don't take notice. Then during that period your breaat will become tender and sensitive just like as if you want to see your period.Then if you mornitor your temperature daily, you notice it rises a bit during ovulation.
But the surest way of knowing whenyou are ovulating is to watch out for that mucus like discarge, you can't miss it if you really pay attention when you are bathing morning and night. And after ovulation, your period normally comes between 10 to 12 days later. This is my little contribution based on personal observation and it has helped me with my spacing of my kids, I have never used any contracepticves and I take in just when I and hubby want. It takes a lot of discipline and understanding from both hubby and I. I rep billings method. *smiles*

To concieve,its better to ve sex 2 days to the beginning of that 14th to the last day. Take a breather for a day,then go for it again on that 14th day which is the ovulation day. One more on the 13th day to period too. You ought to get pregnant. Now,every woman should ve a doctor. Do your HSG to ensure your fallopian tubes are patent(unblocked).HSG is usually done on day 10 of your cycle. On day 21,do Hormonal profiling. After your period,go back again on day 3 for another hormonal profile. If your projesterone,oestrogen and prolactin levels need fixing,drugs should do it! Ehen,don't forget to take your folic acid everyday.400mg.Before thinking of getting pregnant, be on folic.That helps you rule out birth defects. Just try and observe ur body months to months and incase u don't ovulat go see ur doctor,there are some hormonal drugs u can take that ur doc can prescribe for u.

DeleteYes! I'm am a final year medical student. D windows r opend for 5days evry month but d peak is d day u ovulate which happens 2-3of d 5days 4just 12-24hrs.. U 1st ve to knw ur body nd ow many days cycler u r.. For a 28day,u ovulate on d 14th day--- amount of cycle days- 14.. So a 27 day cycler ovulates on d 13th day. So use rythym method or basal body temperature to determine ur peak day(with a themometre that is).. I hope dis helps..

DeleteThe best method is by checking the body mucus. The woman after the last day of menstruation will notice some dry days, these days are her free sex days, she can have sex on these days without getting pregnant. Then she starts experiencing the EARLY PAP, which is usually sticky, it doesn't draw, it breaks easily and its cloudy. This may come for 3 days or more, depending on the woman.
ReplyDeleteAfter that, she will experience the EGG WHITE(very fertile mucus), this is like the while part of a raw egg. it stretches and its less cloudy, sometimes very clear. Once you see this, know that your peak is by the corner, some experience this for 2 days or more.
Ovulation comes after the egg white, after ovulating, you will experience the LATE PAP(Non fertile mucus) which is cloudy, doesn't stretch, it breaks and its very sticky.
After the late pap, the dry days follows. If you want to know your ovulation, start keeping record of your body signs, from menstruation to your dry days, when you do it for two months, you can easily know when you are ovulating.
Always check for these body mucus with tissue whenever you wipe after urinating. Any mucus you see, chart it, even if you don't see any mucus, record it, by so doing, you will know your body very well.
The ovulation prediction kit can also help. Get one, read the instructions and use accordingly. It helps detect the LH surge which is responsible for ovulation.

ReplyDeleteI thought ovulation days were the days where I experience thick virginal discharge. I was trying to conceive for almost a year and looked out for those days and when they came (thick viginal mucus) i made sure hubby and I baby danced(in d mood or out of mood) we must do. To my amazement 4months passed no show and I began to worry so I sought medical help. Did all the test bla bla bla...guess what? They said I was not ovulating, haba! The following month, I saw the very thick mucos, I was very sure I will hit it this time, I went for same test, results came that I still didn't ovulate. I was sad. In other words, thick virginal discharge as some specialist claim is a sign of ovulation really is not. Well, not for me cos with the discharge, I didn't ovulate. So months went by, I had to do several tests, but the tests were taking too long, then I read about Clomid. Which is not sold across the counter abroad. But I trust my naija for life, I had my sister bring it to the states on her visit. Just one round of clomid changed my circumstance. I didn't see thick mucus all through but I sha BD with hubby and got preggy.

ReplyDeleteI hope this helps, as a O&G specialist..the simple way to put is that aside the complexity in individual female physiology uniqueness, there's a meeting point which is statistically common among women, your Ovulation comes around your mid-cycle, so its easier for ladies that do have a regular cycle, but even if you don't the following tell-tale sign might help; a slight increase in ur body temperature, increase and easy sexual arousal(horny), a non-foulsmelling discharge.

I have a 4 month old baby and am scared to make love to my husband cos I don't know my safe period . I had my son via cs and it would be too risky for me to get pregnant now. ReplyDeleteFirst timers on clomid,start with 50mg. One tablet a day from 2nd day of your period for 5 days. Some go as far as 100mg for 5 days. However see an expert. You should be guided after total check up! Clomid brings twins o.Are you ready for that?
DeleteDrs. in Nigeria advice u use clomid on the 2nd day of ur menstrual flow. 1tablet (5mg) a day for 5 days.
DeleteIf u don't get pregnant after ur 1st circle increase dose to 2 tablets (10mg) for next circle.
If no pregnancy after 2 cycles increase to 3 tablets(15mg) 1 morning,afternoon & evening. If nothing happens stop the clomid and rest for 3 cycles be4 u resume or u ask d dr. for a higher drug.
I advise u see a Dr. Be4 u commence, clomid doesn't work for everyone and can be harmful if your body rejects it.
Above all pray to God, he is the fruitful vine and can do exceedingly above all we ask or imagine.

DeleteClomid most times ve to be prescribed nd that's after various tests ve been done on u to rule out polycystic ovaries and also to check your pelvic areas people who ve polycystic ovaries can't use clomid till doctor further advices so they don't get bigger. P.S Clomid doesn't work for everyone infertility has to be diagnosed nd treated. Some people don't ovulate due to high prolactin level, saying that tests most be carried out nd Parlodel prescribed. Thick cervical mucis (CM) is what you get on your non fertile days so don't get engrossed hoping to baby dance on those days. U need clear stretchy CM that will help your hubby's sperm move up more easily nd even preserve his sperm in your fallopian tubes till u "O". In the stretchy CM, sperm can survive up to 5 days depending on the quality of your hubby's sperm.

DeleteI used to have high prolactine levels...(That is lactating when you aint pregnant)...strtd with parlodel it dint reaally stop but my period was regular + the levels actually came down so the doct told me to stop with the parlodel cus too much of it can reduce ur prolactin level (which can lead to anoda problem)...I started with clomide and. I took in the 2nd mnth...doh I lost the baby...

I will advise ladies to download an app called (baby centre) very good app u can calculate your ovulation,your next period nd even if you are on clomid u can calculate ovulation on clomid on d website just enter d last day u took d last pill of clomid it gives u possible days for u to start baby dancing. The app is only for when u have been confirmed pregnant with a due date just enter your due date on d app nd watch videos of how your baby is forming each month, it tells you what to expect, exercise and when to take belly pictures. It has step by step guide all through your 9 months course especially for new mums. I absolutely love it. Baby dusts to us all. ............

It all has to do with body type.

ReplyDeleteMy hubby is a doctor but b4 I got married I neva understood the whole ovulation thingy. My mom tried, no way. I read books, no way. And I hv d most irregular cycle-44 days. He simplified it by telling me about d 14day theory-it works 4 everyone no matter your cycle. It just states that your ovulation period comes 14days b4 ur next period. Then plus or minus 2days. So we r looking @ 5 possibly fertile days. So no matter how irregular U r, U know wen next ur period will come. Try d 14day theory thingy-it worked for me & for a frnd. All d best to all ladies trying to conceive. I hope this helps.
ReplyDeletePregnacare conception or folic acid will help extend ur ovulation days. Anxiety might cause u to discharge, then u feel it's ovulation but it's not. Thrush does cause u to discharge as well so don't get it twisted. Best advice is to av sex every 3 days coz everyday might cause an early miscarriage.

Since my periods are irregular and the discharge is misleading. Started baby dance from day 14-21 with one or 2days interval. D following month I got a bfp(big fat positive)

ReplyDeleteI have a 28 days cycle, so my ovulation is exactly on the 14th day starting from the FIRST day i saw my period.
For instance, if it started on the 13th of September; I will start counting from that 13th. 1, 2,3, 4,5,6,7 ,8,9,10, 11, 12, 13,14. Meaning my ovulation is on the 26th-27th of September. So my unsafe days are from September 22nd to October 1st.

ReplyDeleteDear doctor, pls I saw my period 21th of Jan 2016, after my period I had sex with my husband and since then am yet to see my period which is suppose to come on the 17th of Feb. Its 32 days now and I have not seen my period but am always feeling pains in my stomach as if I want start. Pls can u kindly help out cos am confuse and don't know if am pregnant. Thanks
