Well today is Sunday and I decided to worship with Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo Via his church' COZA twitter handle.The messages tweeted from his sermon in church this morning kind of reminded me of what he is presently going through,so i though thought to share with you and hopefully you will get blessed like i was
...he has been disgraced alright by the sexual allegations but that may just be his 'threshing floor'...The devil must not win this battle to kill the church of God using sex.

DeleteTrue, God will judge but you should be a bit careful to label him fake based on a sex allegation. My point being that David was married, had sex with the wife of a loyal soldier under him, plotted to kill the man, married his wife and got her pregnant....yet he was the man after Gods' heart. I even want to imagine the allegations are true, while its wrong on all levels, it doesnt make him fake, just makes him a man that needs to sort things out with his God...the only One before whom he stands or falls.

DeleteFact - whether or not the Pastor publicly admits this allegation or not is irrelevant to God - what matters to God is his true repentance and the state of his heart after all this. The Pastor is accountable first to God, his family and his congregation. God deals with us differently - there are some (maybe like Ese Walter) whom he tells to publicly confess, there are some whom he tells to just take time off to build themselves up again when they have fallen, there are some whom he tells "go and sin no more" and that's it. And the fantastic thing is that once God has forgiven you, HE FORGETS YOUR SIN and gives you a clean slate as though you never sinned. It's our conscience that usually keeps reminding us about our past misdeeds, not God - that's just the father's love. The truth is God does not deal with us on a one size fits all basis. I can't understand the obsession with wanting the pastor to come out and defend/deny/admit this story in public. Apart from the three classes of people listed above, he owes the public no explanation IMO. For those braying for the Pastor's public confession, I beg you anytime you sin (whether fornication, adultery, lying, covetousness, hate etc all na sin) please go on your twitter, facebook, BBM, Whatsapp, SDK's blog or any other social media site, publish your full names and picture and declare your sin to the world otherwise you'll just be a hypocrite. Remember the thief who was crucified with Jesus? he was a sinner - a thief and probably deserved to be crucified. Yet whilst his accusers, onlookers and maybe some of his victims were braying for his blood shouting "crucify him", he was working out his salvation quietly with God and in spite of his past misdeeds still ended up in heaven on the right side of the Father. Can you imagine the shock of some who were accusing him when they saw him in heaven or those who ended up in hell yet didn't see him? At the end of the day we are to work out our individual salvation with fear and trembling. Work your own out and at best, pray and counsel others instead of accusing and castigating.

ReplyDeleteMy concern is how the church has handled this issue and by church; I don’t mean COZA alone. In my opinion, he (the pastor involved) is not the only guilty party.
ReplyDeleteHe and a very large percent of married men in Nigeria are guilty of this sin. However, he has abused his position of responsibility as a pastor. Since he cannot afford the discipline that comes with that responsibility; I think he needs to step down from being a pastor and just be a regular Christian struggling to live above the sin of adultery like the rest. For a onetime sin, we will expect punishment (like King David) but he seem to be justifying his sin by preaching a different level of grace for people like himself; surely he cannot continue to lead in that capacity assuming these allegations are true.
For those pastors that heard this issue prior to the open confession, have they not failed in their duties?
1. As counsellors who should have helped Ese move on from guilt and shame that she was feeling. She never once denied her actions so what she required was not judgement. If we cannot go to our pastors in times when we need advise then what are their roles as pastors exactly?
2. As Leaders who should have addressed the issue properly.
For those pastors who have used the man’s attitude to preach in their churches. Are they more righteous? Or how many of them are really free of this action. What they should do is conduct a properly investigate their own churches to root out and address similar issues . I recall Nathan going to King David to tell him about his sin to God and not mentioning him as an example during one of his preaching sessions.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, Pastors are not God. They are vessels used by God to reach his people and so it wrong to condemn them when they fall short(use David as an example). Nobody knows the true story so we should'nt be quick to judge/condemn the pastor. And seriously this Ese girl should please SHUT UP, find a room and lock herself there. This her story seems like one that was written out of anger and bitterness not repentance. There are other ways to confess if she's really repentant. There are Christian bodies that could have handled the matter without it being everybody's gist. Exposing a Pastor has never and can never be the solution. I rest my case....
