The Government of Sokoto state announced in July 2013 that its New fence for the state Government house will gulp N772 million. The New fence according to Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, will replace the existing one, which according to his government has expired.
Please what kind of fence costs this much?Any bricklayers in the house? N772million?

ReplyDeleteSokoto govt house is such a large expanse of land coverin close to fifty soccer fields! Concrete slabs wil be used rather dan mould block. D iron rods to be used alone is close to 200 mil. It has 8massive gates dat is resistant to sudden car impact. My rough estimate comes to above 500mil aside consultancy and field survey charges. Need I say more? Tony

ReplyDelete@ Tony 2:27pm, please permit me to state succinctly the feeling of outrage we feel at the figures being bandied for the construction of a fence around the State's Govt House, from the very scarce resources available to the Sokoto State Govt.
ReplyDelete1. No State Govt in the Federation requires a Govt house occupying a land space equivalent to 50 football pitches, let him reduce the land space to be fenced significantly, and redesign it to contain not more than 3 gates ( 1 main Gate, 1 VVIP Gate, 1 Security/emergency gate.
2. what is the state of Govt owned Hospitals, schools in Sokoto state, what of the roads, power supply, accessibility to portable water etc, are they so first class that the state can afford to spend #772m on a fence out of its lean budget.
3. the total budget for Sokoto State in 2013 is #115bn, which means the project for the Govt house fence will gulp 0.67% of the 2013 budget for the whole state. haba don't they have anything better and much more meaningful to do with the state's money.
We are a mumu nation so we will complain today and 2moro we will return to discussing tondo dikeh, yvonne nelson and iyanya, rukky sandra and ebube nwagbo or beverly of bba. na our way be that, thats why these politicians can get away with murder. "Each and every one of us is accountable to Allah in spite of the place we are posted to serve,'' Wamakko said.
"If Aliyu is not seeing you, your creator, Allah, is seeing you and all of us.
"We must serve with the absolute fear of God.
"With the assenting of the 2013 appropriation bill, respective MDAs are now responsible for ensuring effective implementation of the 2013 budget.
"I must categorically state without mincing words that we, on our part, have discharged our responsibility.
"As such, the onus lies with all the public functionaries in their respective duty posts to ensure that the overall interest of the good people of Sokoto state is protected,’’ he said.
The governor assured that there would be accountability, transparency and adherence to due process in conducting government’s businesses.
