The two month old baby who was born with small extra legs between her normal legs has been successfully operated upon by doctors at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola. The girl was born in Konkol community of Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa, where the residents regarded her as a spirit. *Na wah*
Professor Awwal Abubakar, who led the team of doctors that performed the surgery disclosed that the procedure lasted for two hours.
Now... if such an operation could be carried out successfully here in Nigeria, why do our leaders opt to go abroad for treatment? If the facilities in Nigeria are not good enough for them, who are they good for?
Tank God! But 3 legs? Hmm!
ReplyDeleteDem for leave the extra legs o, the baby go need am wen e grow to run far far from witches, wizards, frenemies, boko haram and plenty plenty bad tinz for Naija.

ReplyDeleteThank GOD the operation was successful!
ReplyDeleteThe mother would have given birth to identical twins. The legs belong to the other twin that wasn't separated fully during gestation.
The fertilised egg didn't split properly hence the legs.
So in other words, god didn't do his job properly
DeleteEwu why bring God into the matter. Ur mouth abi finger abi brain will just be twitching u
DeleteThank God.But she's lucky o coz FMC yola has a lot ov qualified doctors but lacks enough facility. More grease to ur elbows naija doctors
ReplyDeleteAnd dt disHonourable River state assembly member Ihunwo dt had his head apakod by another was flown abroad for headache
DeleteThe Doctors they run to in America and other western world are mostly of African, Indian or middle Eastern descent. I think all government officials should be prevented from getting medical treatment overseas .
ReplyDeleteSo they can focus on issues plaguing the country excluding CHILD BRIDE.
I thank God for the baby.
Blokousblog
This is the kind of story that gives us hope for a better nigeria
ReplyDeleteHappy for the child and parents.
ReplyDeleteWell-done doctors.
The answer to your question is, the facilities are good for the poor masses who cannot afford a farthing to travel out!
Food for thought!! But if you ask me na who I go ask
ReplyDeleteEyaa, nice job. Thank God it was successful. As for our leaders, Na only God fit judge their case. ''Dancing azonto'' classic babe says so.
ReplyDeleteThank God
ReplyDeleteWe just like the idea of I went outside the country
Which spirit? Those legs belong to her twin! And ofcourse the surgery was successfully done n there prolly wont be any complications! As for our leaders and all other nigerians who go abroad for medicals! It goes to show how little our faith is in ourselves n our nation
ReplyDeleteAwww.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the child and her parents.
Yeah, the extra legs are those of the twin that didn't make it to life.
ReplyDeleteThank God for everyday miracles.
It is guilty conscience dt is worryin our leaders cos dey don't trust d doctors in Nigeria since dey didn't provide basic equipment for dem so dey are scared of approachin dem. Datz y dey prefer to go abroad. Dough sum of dem go abroad just to feel among d rich. Our doctors are gud dey just lack d tools to work with. God help Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteit is not the surgery o. It is the peri and post-operative care that kills people.

DeleteSpirit ko, Ghost nii. Thank you Rubynnia for the explanation. I think the baby might be more than 2 month old though, cos she seems to be crawling in this picture.

ReplyDeleteThis could be as a result of a rare condition called Polymelia, which causes a person to be born with extra limbs, often arms or legs. It is a condition that causes an embryo to start developing as conjoined twins. One of the twins fails to develop fully leaving the developed twin with extra limbs. Nigeria has a lot of great professionals, its the resources that are not available. Congratulations to the parents and the team who carried out the surgery. Signed: Sisi nurse
ReplyDeleteSisi nurse eeeekabo @ least you have shown you are on top of your profession , after googling . I hope you will not carry iPad or smartphone into the operating room .
ReplyDeleteWat about all those actresses who go abroad to give birth???
