Unemployed Parents Get Conjoined Twins!
These beautiful babies were birthed on July 2, 2013 at LUNA Hospital in Gwarinpa, Abuja. The babies are joined from the stomach and chest down. They have three legs joined together, one liver, one kidney and one intestine.” Ironically, the scan that was conducted didn’t reveal that it was conjoined twins.
The 32-year-old resident of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, who is from Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, and his 30-year-old wife, are currently at a loss.
Apparently the scan did not reveal the childrens condition and the parents had been elated that they were getting twins.
The father of the babies has been told to look for a hospital in the world that can perform the operation and they would send a referral email on his behalf.
I dont understand why the scan did not reveal that the babies were conjoined together or revealed that both were sharing one internal organ...what kind of scan machine is that?
Why do the parents have to be the ones looking for a hospital?arent they suppose to do so on his behalf?
This is so depressing and annoying considering that the couple are not financially buoyant!
I am just pissed at the health care system,it just gets worse by the day!
*God our help in ages past......

DeleteStella no over vex with our health care system come get HBP oo, walai I still need to read your blog everyday. Our Health Care and the Quack Doctors are the ones killing innocent souls I tell you, I say it with certainty because I've experienced it firsthand. I recently discovered I get this early morning sharp pain on my sole, after some time( as the day goes) it disappears. I decided to google these symptoms and discovered that I have plantar fascitis. Now what I needed to get was medical help. I went to maitama hospital and damn I met this small sized lady doctor who to my utmost dismay was diagnosing something else. She started asking about my menstrual cycle, diabetic condition etc. Next thing she was asking me to go for Uric acid test, electrolyte etc. She never for once mentioned plantar fascitis no ask me to do an Xray to see why I got these pains. I told her that im suspecting this particular condition and she was like what's plantar fascitis with this arrogant ignorance look. I told her I'll run the tests but deep down I knew what she asked me to do was for gouts condition. Now im not a doctor but I read alot and even watch Doctors, so no one should curse me out for doubting this doctor.
ReplyDeleteGuess what, my results came out all negative and the next doctor I met in same maitama hospital wondered why i was asked to run these tests in d first place. Now gear up SDK for the shocker. This doctor just prescribed supplements for me, Ca Sandoz and Neuroforte. Guess what she didn't diagnose me for my condition. I was like what happens to me she blurted out " I will research on that". OMG Stella I was flabbergasted and i thought to myself if this was a life threatening situation, then the person is left to die slowly. As for that I lost a friend to breast cancer because of wrong diagnosis. The cut my story I finally went to Cedarcrest hospital where an indian doctor took his time to tell me I had PF and prescribed medications which is working. I hope our leaders are reading.this
Hmmm Stella...thank you for the re caption of this story. Other bloggers who post this news were a bit too harsh..."JOBLESS parents birth...". Thank u for using a more appropriate word...'Unemployed'. 'Jobless sounds like one is insulting them for having kids with no job. But 'unemployed' sounds a more better word that states that it isn't their fault..but that of the economy in which they find themselves. May God help these babies!
ReplyDeleteGod bless those beautiful babies, i live in the U.S, and i know that several hospitals specialize in the separation of conjoined twins such as UCLA MEDICAL CENTER in los angeles. What the hospital needs to do is to contact some non-profit groups that help third world families with this problem. They contact the hospital in the states and arrange for the mother and babies to obtain visas for medical humanitarian reasons. I hope a friend of the family reads my comments and get this started. God will deliver this couple from any saddness.
ReplyDeleteAnon 9. God bless your soul. same thing happened to me.
ReplyDeleteHad a particular health issue, googled it, came up with possible causes, went to the hosp, "anty doctor"
said something totally different without even recommending a test. she just said its malaria..(before you say u no well, them don shout its malaria) haaaa! I said doctor noo! it cant be malaria it might be this this... next thing she flipped "are you teaching me my job now?"
ngwanu, I went for malaria test, wrong! went back to her with the result guess what she told me? all you need is rest! You are stressed and then went on to prescribe supplements.
I just shook my head, went to my second hosp, immediately I told them my prob, they had me go for MRI scan. which gave a clear account of my system, thank God the ish was properly managed.
To the post jorrr.....this conjoined twins situation happened sometime back, I remember reading about it. cant remember how that was handled. I am weak in the knees seeing this.
My dear president, yes president, His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan, please see to this.
they are there in Abuja.
my heart goes to the parents. this is tear-ful.
God of mercy!!!
ReplyDeleteLord have mercy
ReplyDeleteSad but government should try and enforce good ante-natal programs so that situations like this can be avoided.
ReplyDeleteHi Stella as anon 6.43 said dey shuld look for non profit organisations who will surely help if there is none in Nigeria that specialises in d separation of conjoined twins. The scan was obviously inadequate, otherwise it would have shown the abnormality. Please as a Journo do all you can to raise awareness for these couple n parents. Lots of separations are successful.
