An Abuja Federal High Court has granted bail to Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, in the sum of ₦500 million. Bello faces a 19-count charge of alleged money laundering involving ₦80 billion, brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Emeka Nwite ordered that Bello must provide two sureties who own verified properties in Abuja and deposit his international passport with the court. Additionally, Bello and his sureties are required to submit recent passport photographs.
Pending when he fulfils the bail conditions, he will remain in the Kuje Correctional Center. The next hearing is scheduled for February 24, 2025
