  1. I think their teachers have a hand in this (well, some of them sha). They take their time to teach, and explain. Unlike our own time, especially my Secondary School, na vex dem dey use teach us.

  3. So. Chelu mi ajua gi.

After paying through your nose, a school will send report card telling you that your kiddo didn't do well, wasn't attentive during lessons.
    In this economic recession?

    1. The job is not for teachers alone, parents should dedicate time for their children at home to put them through some of the things that have been taught in school especially their home tasks.

  4. Yes, some private schools are manipulating results and pushing the dull students forward

  5. Lol, that sentence up there is categorized as euphemism in figure of speech, more like saying the opposite of what is really happening.
School children's still repeat their classes in government schools and some private schools, most private schools are money oriented now, all they care about is what the parents wants as long as they see the money, the marks of the students will be padded for them to be promoted to another class.

  8. This is so true. Quality of education has declined over the years.

Some School owners are just interested in making money, parents won't even accept such bad results cause they not going to pay through their noses then child comes home with bad grades.

    It's both ways.

  9. Where I live, I think there is some ruling to pass children to the next stage to protect their self-esteem. However, I also believe that parents are willing to pay for tutoring to help their children, also more parents are helping with homework and making sure the children know what they are doing. I think overall, parenting is better these days, more hands on and involved. Less beating and screaming and more loving.

  10. U hardly see any private school now failed a child, the parent will withdraw the child immediately and go to school that will abide by their rules.
This days it's parents that dictates the class their wards Belong

  12. They are really manipulating the results o. Parents are the cause of it. If their child fails exam, they will change their school and school is business so no school owner will want to loose students to other schools. Even teachers would like your child to pass so that anytime you come visiting as a parent you will buy small biscuit for them😁

  13. Which parents will pay another fee 3 times just for the child to repeat the same class? The school will just promote all to the next clàss. Cos if they don't, na to withdraw and go to another school.

  14. Kids of these days are actually smart but again, results are also manipulated, where I taught sometime ago,the head teacher clearly instructed her staff not to repeat any child.

  15. I do not think the schools are manipulating the results. I think the advent of internet learning has helped a great deal. Children are self-taught these days. They are versatile and computer literate. Unlike our generation when you have to go to library to study.

Parents of children in this generation are mostly graduates unlike our parents who were traders with little or no knowledge of the importance of homework. So parents contribute a lot to improve their children intellectual ability. The continuous learning after school (lessons) is also a contributing factor.

I do not believe teachers are just passing them, I think they are more intelligent than us. Which is why they make straight As in their SSCE, GCE, NECO and high marks in Jamb.

Some of them that I know that took international examinations are smashing them. Nigeria children are giving their western counterparts a run for their money.

So children of this generation are not repeating class because they are intelligent.
