Appeal Court Reportedly Nullifies R*ape Conviction Üf Lagos Doctor Femi Olaleye

The appeal court sitting in Lagos has nullified the rape conviction of Femi Olaleye, managing director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation.

On Friday, the appellate court held that the lower court erred in its judgment.
The appeal court thereafter discharged and acquitted Olaleye.
In November 2022, Olaleye was arraigned by the Lagos state government on a two-count charge of defilement of a child and sexual assault by penetration.

In October 2023, the special offences and d#mestic vi#lence court in Lagos convicted Olaleye on the charges.
Rahman Oshodi, the judge, had sentenced Olaleye to life imprisonment over rape.
The medical doctor, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.
The cancer care advocate was accused of violating a minor, who was said to be a niece of his wife, for over 20 months.

  1. The court has delivered its final decision. If the man did it, may his conscience judge him forever, and if his accusers are only trying to drag him into it, may they too live in guilt.
As for the child, if this is true, I hope you find recovery and that the good Lord will fight your battles at the appropriate moment.

    3. @Anon 14:14 Please read my comments again.

Sensitive matters like this necessitate comprehensive investigations, and there is room to exercise one's rights; there are other sides to a tale, and you don't only focus on the complaint.
Furthermore, the highest court in the land has spoken and recognizes that if the evidence were good enough, this case would not be overturned.
You only seek divine intervention if anything actually happened, and my thoughts are with the young one.

    2. Comments ala coments

      He was investigated.
He was tried and convicted at the Ihigh Court.
He appealed to the Court of Appeal, which overturned the conviction and acquitted him.
The State has another right of appeal to the Supreme Court.
The State has the constitutional power/freedom to decide to appeal or not to appeal.

The courts decide cases based on evidence presented to the court not on the basis of public sentiments or on what the parties know privately.

  6. He was sentenced by a lower court and he proceeded to the appeal court. If he did it, his conscience will convict him forever if the court acquits him.

    1. Easy man.

Lagos State has a good record of successful prosecution of cases like this.
Lagos State's structure for dealing with DV and SX is arguably the best in the whole country. The team at that department of Lagos State will not let any other government department spoil their work.
When a State is doing good, we should say so without politics just as we should be allowed to speak out when it is slacking in doing good.
