The Federal Government has dismissed reports claiming that the United Kingdom endorsed a petition submitted by Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho. The petition, which called on the UK government to consider the creation of a Yoruba nation, was submitted at 10, Downing Street, London, last week.


Indications emerged on Tuesday that Ambassador Umar Damagum, the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been offered an opportunity to step down from his position next week. It was gathered that the decision was reached by the party’s governors yesterday in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

 Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have dismantled a notorious armed robbery syndicate terrorising residents of Owerri North LGA of the state. The police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, in a statement on Tuesday, said the breakthrough was a result of enhanced security measures initiated by the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, targeting violent crimes, especially at night.

 Governors elected on the platform of the main opposition Peoples Democratic (PDP) have nullified the suspension of the acting National Chairman of the party, Illiya Damagum. The governors have also nullified the suspension of the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba and the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN.

 Oil marketers have said that the volume of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, produced by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery is currently not enough to meet domestic demand. Based on this, dealers are to import the commodity to augment the supply from the $20bn Lekki-based plant, the marketers stated on Tuesday.

 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday arrested a radio host, Favour Ekoh, in connection with an alleged N700 million Ponzi scheme. The anti-graft agency accused Ekoh, who anchors the “Prime Time” programme on Urban Radio 94.5FM in Enugu State of luring unsuspecting investors into a fraudulent investment scheme, promising exorbitant returns.

 Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, also known as KAI, on Tuesday, arrested 20 suspected miscreants terrorising the Oshodi area of the state. The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a terse message shared on his X.com page on Tuesday.

About 90 people were confirmed dead following a petrol tanker explosion in Majiya Town, Taura local government area of Jigawa State on Tuesday.
Mr Shi’isu Adam, the Police Spokesperson in Jigawa, confirmed this in an interview with NAN on Wednesday.
He also said that 50 other persons had been hospitalised for various degrees of injuries due to the explosion.

 Umar Sani, Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former Vice President Namadi Sambo, has hinted that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, might discipline the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.
Sani said PDP’s disciplinary committee has awakened to its responsibilities and may sanction Wike because he’s not above the party.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show, Sani said no committee was in place at the time of Wike’s alleged infractions.

  5. PDP is the weapon fashioned against itself. It's amazing how people like Wike and his associates are seemingly above the party, causing division and rancour. Yet the party does absolutely nothing.
    If PDP had any idea about playing opposition, Tinubu wouldn't have been able to get away with most of his policies.
    At the end, it's Nigerians that are paying for it.

    Naira being one of the worst performing currencies is expected. I hope the President is proud of himself
