Judge Hands Off IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu's Case After His Shocking Behaviour In Court

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has recused herself from the trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu in the terrorism charges brought against him by the federal government.

The Judge on Tuesday opted out of the trial following the outburst of Kanu that he had no confidence and trust in the judge.
In the middle of Tuesday’s proceedings, Kanu had jumped up from the dock and ordered his lawyer, Aloy Ejimako to sit down for him to address the court.
In the uproar that ensued, Kanu took over the proceedings, announced that he no longer had confidence in Justice Binta Nyako and demanded that she rescued himself immediately.
Although the federal government lawyer, Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, objected to Kanu’s request, the Judge insisted on recusing herself
Awomolo had argued that the order to open the trial was in line with a Supreme Court Judgment, Justice Binta Nyako said she would prefer another judge to handle the trial.
The judge subsequently recused herself and ordered that the case file be returned to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, John Tsoho for reassignment to another judge.

Kanu has been returned to the DSS custody.

  1. Who knows if the proceedings would have favored him, but he allowed his village people to have their way because of lack of control and emotions.

  3. Well he has a right to choose not to be brought before her.. but I don't understand the grounds for his behaviour.
However, I'm glad she is not handling the case cos anyhow the judgement goes, it would have brought a lot of issues.

  6. What kind of judge is she that her orders to the DSS were flouted severally and she didn't do anything. Some of you should remove sentiment and reason logically. Do you think if the government has a clear chance of winning this case, it will linger this long?

Don't forget, he won the government in their court and was discharged and acquitted. The manner in which he was extraordinary renditioned made it difficult for the government to get justice over him and they knew it.

You can't commit an illegality to win a case. This is why the case is far from ending. The government knows this.

    Nnamdi Kanu knows thth

  7. Nnamdi KANU knows this very law more than they do. If you did follow the last court appearance, you'll notice how he quoted the law explicitly to Justice Binta Nyako why he can't be tried before any court.

Lawyers in the house will understand better that a case an appellate court has thrown away, thereby discharging and acquitting him shouldn't be entertained by a lower court. This is travesty of justice and abuse of judicial competency.

  9. "Sit down! I say you should sit down!" Kanu roared from the dock.

"My lord, I have no confidence in this court anymore and I ask you to recuse yourself because you did not abide by the decision of the Supreme Court.

"I can understand it if the DSS refuses to obey a court order, but for this court to refuse to obey an order of the Supreme Court is regrettable.

"I am asking you to recuse yourself from this case," Kanu stated.

    1. What patience are you guys shouting around? Nigerians always sentimental. Have you thought about the law process not just about this man but the citizens? Rule of law shouldn't be abused, otherwise it loses the essence of check and balances for society. When something wrong is implemented against people qe seem not to like, it is okay, but we forget that we are indirectly normalising irrational behaviours.

  11. I pity the fools who hitched their carts to this kind of horse. Where are they today? What has the man who collected over 300 million naira done for their families while they languish in detention? Where is the referendum or even basic online or parish to parish vote after all these years? Where is the constitution ? Where are the proposed boundaries? Just more predatory jokers making noise in costume from their council flats.

What an unprofitable master anger is.
