    1. Jira, jira, jira!!!,

Lets consider this hypothetical scenario where you married a Bill Gates, an Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos or even a Dangote, would you maintain this stand?

The truth is in your mind, you "married down" and believe your maiden name carries more weight than your husbands name.

I mean, Elon Musks wife (Justine Musk) who divorced him in 2008, has refused to revert to her maiden name and still claims the Musk name till today.

I mean can you blame her?

Women will always do whatever is in their interest, logic be damned.

      Anyways, as you were.

      Carry on.

Answer the question you were asked.

Your husbands name doesnt carry weight thats why you didnt change yours to his.

Accept this and have peace abeg.

  3. Most people I know only changed their names on their social media profile but all documents still carry their maiden names. The stress involved in doing change of name in Nigeria is not for the faint hearted. News paper publication is easy peasy but to effect the change in the bank is war not to talk of NIN and others. Do not try it biko.

  4. That's the way to go. Change of name is no beans. Not with the way men are not even serious with marriage these days. You change after marriage. Boom few years down the lane you are divorced and you start thinking of changing back to your maiden name again. That's extreme sports

  7. I totally support Shade's advice here. The stress involved in changing it back if things go south is enormous.

  10. The way everyone wants to give advice and opinion on the decision of a grown woman amazes me. I just hope you all have a perfect life while at it.

    1. The lady knows exactly what she was doing , most of them wants a lot of people in their circles or to mess up who are not solid in whatever conviction they got. Let people do what pleases them why come to social media to influence rubbish and mess up the weak ones.

  11. For divorced people, it's hard to change it back that's why some ladies are scared to change it in the first place but I would advise divorced women that have children should still keep the surname. In all if na Danjuma or Dantata be the surname you will change it sharp sharp.lol

  12. In cases of divorce, there is no legal or cultural requirements to revert to maiden name. I don't know why Nigerians make a fuss about this, probably ignorance. You can have your new name for life, whatever name you take on via marriage is yours to bear for life; no one can sue you for it. If they do, they'll lose...

  13. See them saying if something goes wrong changing it back to your father's name becomes a challenge. So you mean some of you go into marriage already thinking of divorce? Like how? Why marry at the 1st place if you think you might divorce?

The young woman Sharon has been a lady without problems. But you all chose to attack her this much because she married someone who married in the past? How does her choice affect you personally? This is how you people drive people to their end. Let the lady be.
