  19. Amanda biko let me write in English. Inugo. Osu by traditional definition is somebody offered to or dedicated to a god or an idol . Nobody living today in Igboland of Eastern Nigeria can claim to be a living witness to the origin of the Osu Caste System in Igboland, an ugly dichotomy that tends to make some people inferior before their ilk.

I believe we can end the Osu-Diala dichotomy by educating our children on its frivolity and its tendency to destroy rather than build Igboland. A negative tradition created osu. A positive one alone can abrogate it. The Osu Caste System has become a challenge to the Igbo intellectual. No progressive people can allow a matter as frivolous as the Osu Caste System distract them from confronting the challenges from outside. dalunu ooo!

The Igbo race world over should be ashamed, in this 21st century, we still have Igbo families that discriminates based on old ag traditions, one don't have a choice into which family you are born into, yet you get discriminated based on this archaic tradition that should be discarded with promptly, yet Igbos accuse the Nigerian nation of exclusion, yet they are their own number one enemy, say for instance, biafra is actualised, there will still be the osu caste system, which means later on, those osu too among the Igbos will start clamouring for a state of their own abi, another South Sudan in the making, Igbos think and get right, no to osu caste system, all men are born equal and free

It's a really scary tradition. My BESTFRIEND is an osu I was warned to stop being her friend but I still sneak around to see her and hang out. The funniest thing is even people with Ph.D. Will still tell u that u can't mingle with osu despite their level of education. I don't think it can be abolished honestly. All I see is people getting stubborn and marrying who ever regardless. My dad to me is the most educated/exposed person I've come across and if he can still say stuffs like that I mean who won't say it? Point of correction it's not only in Igboland I'm from delta state and this stuff is everywhere they just have different names for it in other languages.
