    1. He didn't quite understand what she said. the man explaining must have said something else because I heard him say women and children. Summary of what he meant was everyone will be treated equally even the niger deltans. As for the amnesty baba didn't say anything

    2. OK let me try...

He clearly did not understand the question asked, that was why he consulted with the host before answering.

However, his response, although off track, was regarding the Niger Deltans...and the impression people have that perhaps, they would be "sectionalised" by his govt..

He tried to explain that he got quite an impressive number of votes and backing from them.. therefore it would be impossible for him not to attend to their needs regardless. He says that they support his leadership. And also implied that the militants are his cross to carry because he promised "to belong to nobody" etc.

I also grasped another thing he said, that he couldn't possibly treat anyone with bias even if they didn't vote for him...

Meanwhile the lady was asking to know what plan his government have in place to accommodate the amnesty program. But Mr President didn't get it, or perhaps he didn't want to make a direct statement about amnesty or its continuity. Presumably.

    3. From what I can gather, he only answered the part about the inclusive governance and not the amnesty and bunkering bit. He probably didn't understand the question which is surprising though as the question is clear. Well, it may be a deliberate attempt at dodging the question too. What do I know. Sometimes you may not want to let out too much information in front of the world press.

    4. Sisi Eko....u didn't get the vote part clearly. He said he didn't get enough votes from the Niger Delta and would not treat them the same way he would treat the constituencies that gave him 96% votes but that he cannot sectionalize the niger delta because they are also part of Nigeria and he said like he said..he belongs to everyone and belongs to nobody.........He made it clear that the niger delta didn't vote for him. He was confused while answering the question because all he picked from the question was 'selective governance'.

    1. Exactly that is what he said. But went on to say because the constitution protects the niger deltA. He has to be careful in his dealings. Out of the heart the mouth speaks. Left to Buhari the Niger delta will be exterminated. If all key appointments have been give to the core north and you all cannot see his actions sorry ohhhh

    2. I believe he meant as a human being he would rather give more to people that voted for him but the constitution gives no room for such so everybody will get their constitutional right. That is to say , even Niger Delta that didn't support him will get their issues attended to. And all of you saying his hausa accent is bad and can't understand what he is saying please it is the same baba can't hear oyinbo accent. Pot calling the kettle black. Runs away*

I hope this man isn't trying to sideline Niger Delta oh, this one he's talking about those who voted 96% for him and all, those aren't the hallmarks of a true leader.

Anyway, God no de sleep. We no de carry last, at worst, e go be draw.
The guy sha dodge the amnesty and bunkering question.

back to the matter, i watched the video and from my observation he didnt understand the question the journalist asked. His answer was far different from what he was asked. btw he was contradicting himself.
first he memtioned how those who voted 97% and those who voted 5% wont be treated equally.
towards the end of the video, he said he made an undertaking to be for everybody and for nobody... how does both sentences correlate??

I am not gonna be biased and tribalistic about this but no one can say Buhari isnt a vindictive man, his recent actions have shown us this.

i voted for nobody bcos @both candidates i didnt see anyome better.

    1. Oh please, away with this excuse/ignorance - whatever was intended is in poor taste.

Buhari, OBVIOUSLY pointed out to everyone with reasoning faculties that he is a bigot. What is inference answer? Do you KNOW what inference structured answers are? Clearly not, for if you did you would realise that what he intended - ridiculously too - to
do in the second half of his sentence, was
damage control. He realised he had spoken his thoughts - his ACTUAL thoughts - and then tried to sound like he was "for everybody". Idiot really thinks his inaugural speech was all that.

This cow here called Deji, is coming to show his ignorance. Please bugger off. You can't gloss over this; Buhari was irresponsible in his reply and showed to the world what sceptics have always voiced - his sectarian sentiments.

Infact I dont think he understood the question. Why cant they get this man an Huasa translator, he does not understand English and can not speak as well, even when he speaks it is very difficult to understand what he is saying.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Politically speaking, those who gave their all to get him there cannot be compromised because he wants to please everybody - politically speaking implies every aspect of direct reward related to party efforts. This may include appointments, federal projects in the affected states, and juicy assignments.

For example, he cannot allot juicy positions to PDP states, which is naturally expected. He is likely to give developmental priority to APC states.

Constitutionally speaking, every single Nigerian is entitled to his/her primary right, which he cannot deny them. This constitutional right may cover security, economic development and social services.
For example, school renovation, road construction projects, hospitals, scholarships...etc.

To check bigotry assumptions, please note that I'm Pro-PDP and a Deltan from one of the igboid tribes.

  18. He is double speaking. I don't understand too....first he says there's no way he would treat people who didn't give him much votes as does who did cos it won't be fair. But then again, at the end, he won't marginalize any part and he is for everyone and for nobody! I think he didn't understand the question, or he was just playing to the gallery..or trying to be diplomatic....however, he ought to treat them specially cos they have a challenge occasioned by oil exploration in the delta..as such he ought to give special attention! He either doesn't understand what's on ground or will purposely ignore them by generalizing or treating "everyone" equally. I am tempted to believe that our president can be vindictive....but he shouldn't take it that far pls! It won't be good for him, his government and Nigeria!

  22. This guy is obviously wicked! Gej despite not getting much support from the north during his previous election, still concentrated more on d north than in any other state. He's trying to say we don't have freedom of choice. He's just contradicting himself. Firstly, he said he can't give dem d same attention, now brought in d I belong to everybody and belong to nobody. He's a very confused being

    ReplyDelete
  23. Honestly PMB did not understand the question reason he asked the man beside him to explain, when one do not understand question you can't properly answer it. The lady asked about how he intend to handle the issue of amnesty, bunkering, inclusive government the only closer answer he gave was inclusive government, maybe they should have repeated the bunkering and amnesty question.
At his age you expect blunders and we as a nation will continue to expect it so it's nothing new. The important thing to Nigerians are restoration of our glory as a nation that i am sure he will do. I am more proud being a Nigerian now than the past 6 years because we all know there's HOPE, we have someone who's at least 80% honest compare to two former young presidents who destroyed our country with their party members. Most importantly Nigerians need a fearful/strong leader and we have it now.
PMB handlers need to do more work on him with time he will be ok. Picking holes in his speech is not important rather changing our nation is what's more important. I don't care if he speak hausa to us with a translator, i only care about good governance, true change, true federalism in general good performance. Nigeria is soooo rich yet we are poor due to mismanagement of our wealth by the greedy few, it's very sad we have been destroyed so we need someone like him to give us hope and sense of belonging.

I guess the reality for the next few years is that we don't have a very articute president. Notwithstanding this does not directly impact his ability to deliver. He should appoint a capable Minister for Information and Communication and focus on governance.

  27. First and foremost, the president was asked a question concerning management of Niger delta, amnesty, etc. I most say he deviated from what he was asked, he actually did not answer the question, or should I say he answered trickily. Saying he will give extra attention to the constituencies that voted for him, is actually saying 'I will favour the north' more than every other region. He should have in mind that the resources used in sustaining the country, comes from the so called minority that gave him less votes. Anyways, I hope he does well, cos having a sectional government will be disastrous.

  30. I watched the video, and Stella it's really hard not be biased.
Anyway, for those who didn't get to watch the video...
Here goes, Our President was asked how his government intends to solve the problem of the Niger Delta and also the issue of amnesty, he didn't answer the question (either deliberately or maybe he didn't understand the question)

However, he had this to say in answer the question, he said that Regions that didn't vote for him (that gave him a lesser %vote) SHOULDN'T expect to be treated EQUALLY with those that voted for him(gave him up to 80% vote). In other words.... Fill in the gap.
He also got contradictory by saying that according to the constitution, all states will be carried along.

Stella, what other explanation do you need? It's clear na. If you didn't vote for this government, do not expect it to work for you.
    Oriegwu.

    ReplyDelete
  31. but left to me with what i heard.he said even if he wanted to be biased and only reward those that voted heavily for him he cant because constitutionally every constituent and region is protected and thqt if he does that he has failed.to me he is just being honest amd saying what others will say behind closed doors

  32. Summary is that PMB didn't understand the question, and said he will rule by election results. He later backtracked when he realised that he is no more a dictator. It's funny how PMB will decide to favour d north, using the south's resources. PMP is a northern president. Dazzal

  34. Hmmmm.... na wa oh! First of all, the president doesn't know the meaning of "inclusive government". Secondly, he stated clearly that preferential treatment would be given to those constituencies who voted for him before others who didn't. Thirdly, I had to watch the video severally to really understand what he was saying. Fourthly, SHAME to Nigerians (especially the youths) for giving us a man like this!

    ReplyDelete
  35. He answered her but he was two sided. He says 'politically, he wouldn't treat the constituencies that did not vote for him in the same way that he will treat those who gave him their votes. He then said the constitution protects all citizens in the state and it is also binding on him too, therefore, everyone has to be treated equally, irrespective of their differences. He concluded by saying he belongs to everyone and no one. I think this means that if he had his way, he will deal with places like the Niger Delta but as a patriotic citizen, he is going to abide by the constitution and be a president of everyone. Which still makes no sense to me in any way. Very sly response...

    1. Exactly! Very sly response indeed. The truth is I won't be shocked if he marginalised the south-south and south-east. Tribalism and favouritism are deeply rooted in our society. My major concern is the economy and welfare of the people. I would be glad if PMB can improve the economy and take Nigeria to greater heights to the benefit of all. I don't care if he dislikes my people as long as he gets the job done. He's the president so he must put every single geopolitical zone into consideration if he wants to won the hearts of his people.

  36. Clearly there are areas where he will favour those that heavily voted for him which is based on the political reality of his party. APC states will definitely receive upper hands. But he will still abide by what is constitutionally right in terms of govt and ministerial appointments and disbursement of funds.

  37. It's going to be an all inclusive govt but APC states will be at a better advantage. It's a political reality.

  39. True and I also feel it is only fair that the people who are affected by oil exploration/extraction are the only people that get to enjoy the dividend of this oil but that is not the case. WE have states up north that are rich in minerals which are being exploited/exported by northern magnets while the government turns a blind eyes, but these states are there cup in hand for a share of money that they did not sweat for or were not inconvenienced in any way for. These states feel the states affected are greedy for insisting they deserve a bit more that the rest of the country since they suffered for it.
Clearly the president is still bitter about the fact that they did not vote for him. Did the northerners vote against their fellow northerner? It is rare in Nigeria to have a southern presidential candidate against a northern candidate and the same way the north voted for him is how the south voted for GEJ, so he should just grow up, get over it and start running the countr.

    ReplyDelete
  40. He clearly has no clue about what needs to be done with the amnesty program (or at least does not want to address it publicly) or the oil bunkering.
It is a bit worrying that he did not understand the meaning of inclusive

  41. The truth be told, the man is old and his brain is sure failing him, his answer is obviously not for the question. His answer is a very unintelligent one I must say. I remember when Obama was campaigning for second term, gov Abi mayor of florida said "Obama is walking round the white house looking for clue", after some weeks, same state had flood, Obama was on ground to access the damage. That's example of an intelligent leader. I guess they should avoid his answering questions in public to hide his vagueness. It is either he did not understand the question or he is just sending a message to the Niger delta, GEJ didn't start the amnesty, it was Yaradua's initiative.
