Four-year-old Omonigho Abraham is currently battling for his life at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, after his scalp was eaten by two dogs at home.
The dogs chewed the skin off his head and exposed his skull during the shocking attack which happened on Thursday last week on Adegboyega Street, Akesan Estate,Igando,Lagos.
I spoke with his Father today and after he disclosed that the boy was not getting enough medical care,I have decided to take it upon myself to open a #SaveOmonighoAbraham SOS fund.
I cannot do it without you.

DeleteThis is very painful...As a dog lover myself.....The owners of these dogs have to be blamed and should be made to go through some of reprimand. When u train ur dogs to be be this ferocious, U should keep them locked out. Such Dogs should be released when needed to watch/guard ur home. In facts u shouldnt train and keep guard dogs in compound where u have others who are not owners or dont like dogs and they dogs are not "familiar" with...Dogs are wonderful companions and friendly animals. Have u wondered why they are referred to as man's best friend?.....
DeleteHonestly our home dogs should never be trained to attack, cos they already have an inate ability/capacity/instinct to protect us their loved ones when they sense someone/something threatens us. It not a enough to want to own a dog but pls love and care for ur home dogs pls, by possitively reinforcing the good behaviours in them.
#Lastly on these two dogs that mauled #Omonigho in lagos, as a matter of fact...they should be taken from the current owners by govt and rehabilitated immediately and never to be given back to them and never allow that family to have any dog again(cos they give these wonderful animal bad names). If they state lacks the capacity to do this, then it will be most unfortunate they(the dogs) have to be taken down to avoid a re-occurance.

When I see peoples dogs and they say "no come in, Sheba is harmelss", this is exactly what I have in mind Sheba may be harmless to you, but to me Sheba na ANIMAL.WILD ANIMAL. ReplyDeleteMy dear, unfortunately, the dogs have to be released into the custody of their owner(s), pending legal actions against the owner(s). As annoying as it may appear, only a competent court can issue an order for the dogs to be put down. It's even worse overseas because they take their animal rights very seriously, even if the dogs kill a person. You dare not touch a strand of hair from a dog's body without a court order. People there equates dogs with humans. The advantage is that their legal system works very fast and very efficiently so, legal documents can be filed the very same day or the next so that the dogs can removed from the custody of their owner(s) and kept in an animal shelter assigned by the court pending the outcome of the trial. Guess what? Those dogs will be properly fed and cared for till the court determines the matter and if the dogs are to be put down, they do it in the most humane way.

The residents of the compound are too nice....just toss them poisoned raw beef at night, end of story.

You must have a trusted person in Nigeria. do send the person the money and instruct the receiver to credit the fathers account and send you a copy of the deposit slip. which you will in turn call the child's father and tell him to confirm his account.

This is heartbreaking. Sad. Nothing is too small, even if its 500 naira, and to those who dont have the cash, prayers will go a long way too. The name of the dog owner should not be shrouded in secrecy. Parents pls lets protect our kids, was the child left alone before the sick dogs pounced on him/her? Why were the evil dogs not caged? Lots of questions in my head. May God heal the child. Lagos state govt will surely step up to this. Sdkers, lets perform.

I own a dog, and he detests children, why? cos they always taunt him, throw stones at him etc. I'm very sure these poor kids did the same to d dogs. Its quite unfortunate that this happened to Omonigho, but the dogs should't be put down, it'll be inhumane to do so. The owner should be held responsible for negligence instead...my opinion

This is very painful...As a dog lover myself.....The owners of these dogs have to be blamed and should be made to go through some of reprimand. When u train ur dogs to be be this ferocious, U should keep them locked out. Such Dogs should be released when needed to watch/guard ur home. In facts u shouldnt train and keep guard dogs in compound where u have others who are not owners or dont like dogs and they dogs are not "familiar" with...Dogs are wonderful companions and friendly animals. Have u wondered why they are referred to as man's best friend?.....
ReplyDeleteHonestly our home dogs should never be trained to attack, cos they already have an inate ability/capacity/instinct to protect us their loved ones when they sense someone/something threatens us. It not a enough to want to own a dog but pls love and care for ur home dogs pls, by possitively reinforcing the good behaviours in them.
#Lastly on these two dogs that mauled #Omonigho in lagos, as a matter of fact...they should be taken from the current owners by govt and rehabilitated immediately and never to be given back to them and never allow that family to have any dog again(cos they give these wonderful animal bad names). If they state lacks the capacity to do this, then it will be most unfortunate they(the dogs) have to be taken down to avoid a re-occurance.
May God Grant The Child Quick Recovery... Amen!
